Carolina Panthers quarterback Jimmy Clausen underwent what's believed to be minor surgery on his left foot last week, the Charlotte Observer reported Friday.

Dr. Robert Anderson, the Panthers' team orthopedist, performed the operation. Clausen, a rookie who played most of his senior season at Notre Dame with two torn ligaments in his big toe, had been feeling the effects of offseason toe surgery from last year and said in December another operation would be needed.

Nothing exciting but Panthers news all the same.

While he's fixing things, I wish he'd fix the fact that he uses the word "tweeps" on twitter daily. I replied to him today saying, "I love the Panthers and I used to hang with Casey and Rick in college, but when you say "tweeps", it makes me embarrassed for you." I hope he takes my suggestion to heart. If not, I'm going to have to unfollow him, and that will just break his heart.

Yeah, I had heard during the Draft/pre-Draft they were talking about how Clausen's foot still wasn't 100%, and it probably wouldn't be during the entire '10 season.

I never really thought about it, though. I don't want to make excuses for the guy, but that's probably why he under-performed. That, or he's just not an NFL QB... Or, the John Fox/Jeff Davidson was so awful that it doesn't really matter how good of a QB you are, you'll look like trash.

But probably a mix of all three.
