If the super bowl taught anybody anything yesterday it's that you want the best pure passing pocket QB you can get. Cam is not that.

When I hear pocket passer I think the Mannings. When I hear Aaron Rodgers I think mobile QB.

I'd classify Brees, Rodgers and Rivers as mobile. The key, however, is that they are accurate passers. They use mobility to extend plays so they can help receivers get open...and then get them the ball. Mobility doesn't do you any good if you miss the pass. ala Vick.

Pre-2010 Vick.

he was doing what the coaches told him to do.if he is coached up i bet he would become a moblie qb and not just a running qb.the guy has way to much upside

I've got it on good accord that the first pick will NOT be QB. They are moving forward with Clausen and believe he wasn't properly developed by the previous staff

Cam for #1 overall? You must be joking. He is easily classified a running qb which as Scott pointed out doesn't mean mobile. Being mobile is more like an advantage rather than a way they play the game. Cam isn't mobile, he isn't planning on eluding DL to get the ball out, he is planning on gaining yardage by running something no QB mentioned consitantley PLANS on doing...

Cam isn't worth the number one pick simply because Peterson is worth it more than him. Needs come later, this is #1 overall. If we take Cam, we'd better do it by trading down, which I think will be an option despite some huddlers. Cam has upside but it comes with it more risk and for #1 overall avoiding risks to me are worth more to me than chancing it on someone's upsides. Later rounds are perfect for this.

Ugh. One more season wasted.

Is Luck a Junior or Senior next year? Could he dodge us again?

If Hurney fugs up this #1 pick somehow, which given the draft is much much easier to do comparing to earlier drafts, it will hurt....bad. Think Brown and AE were bad....it will be as though we started drafting in the third round:(

Yes. I think he has two years of eligibility left.

"Pocket Passer" and "Mobile Quarterback" are not mutually exclusive terms.

"Running quarterback" is the one that's different.

Went to a coaches clinic over the weekend and jay cullen the jags dl coach said it." if you like a guy,you take him. who cares what the draft experts think." the tape dont lie, this guy upside is threw the damn roof.

if hurney likes him and thinks he is the real deal you have to take him.

Not if Rivera, OC, scouts, Hurney, etc think Cam is the guy. I am not saying he is or isnt but this "you dont pick him #1 because someone else is a better #1 pick is absurd. If he is the guy, then he is the guy and you pick him. With a rookie cap in place then doing that is even easier. Obviously if trading down can be done, and still get Newton is possible (again assuming he is the guy the want) then you do it. But of course that would come with a risk and they would then have to not want him as much as the extra picks, etc.

I just dont get this mentality that if you are really high on somebody that if he is not "worth" the spot then you pass on him.

but you can translate a running qb into a mobile qb.it's called COACHING.

It's extremely tough to do, that's why no one has done it until this past year (leaving system aside for now).
