While I am sure that a majority of Americans want a Stimulus Bill to pass, I'm not sure that they want this one to pass with all the b.s. in it.

If you will notice, the poll that you posted was taken on Jan 6-7, and the question was "Do you want Obama to pass a Stimulus Bill a.s.a.p when he takes office.". I think most everyone was wanting that. I am not so sure that people are wanting a "stimulus" that includes all of this extra spending that is going to do pretty much nothing to help the economy.

Yes he does, and he also is turning a blind eye to the person that is leading in Washington, and it aint Obama! Pelosi is queen bee right now.

I won't, or haven't denied that the Republican party is in a mess...But it has more to do with all the negative press given by the MSM than reality. The Republican Party is also lacking in leadership right now, which makes things worse...But, the Dems will shoot themselves in their collective feet...HAHAHA! Make no mistake about that. They're pretty good at it. And with Pelosi calling the shots - it's a no-brainer.

they should, because with few exceptions, the democrats are worthless.

you mean the senate and house majority leaders are in the spotlight while a bill is moving through them? I am shocked. Absolutely shocked.

But it has more to do with all the negative press given by the MSM than reality.

what? are you really blaming the mainstream media for the perception of the republican party, and not the fact that they're poorly run, ad ideologically unwavering even in the face of overwhelming evidence that their beliefs don't work?

But, the Dems will shoot themselves in their collective feet...HAHAHA! Make no mistake about that. They're pretty good at it. And with Pelosi calling the shots - it's a no-brainer.

why are people so fixated with nancy pelosi? why are republicans so terrified of women in power in the first place? they attack her with a vitriol not seen since hillary clinton.

huh. that's a....fairly large discrepancy to say the least. interesting.

8 Billion to renovate Government Buildings. Really? How does that stimulate the economy besides reaming the taxpayers? Unless you like that kind of stimulation.

I heard the other day that only 10% of the money would be spent in the first year. How is that immediate stimulation?

It's both sides, Dem. & Rep. if they can get over the American taxpayer they will, and they hope that the $$ number is so big that you will just zone out and not pay attention. If they could get a trillion they would gladly take it.

Construction workers hired and materials purchased to do the job. Regardless of what people think of it, that kind of spending stimulates just as much as if they gave the money to you or I, although perhaps it stimulates a bit more slowly.

Yeah I understand that part of it, it just seems like a way to take advantage of a large money flow.

So was building the Hoover Dam and rural electrification. If we are going to blow money just to circulate it, I would rather see it done on projects with long term potential for helping out the nation that private firms might see as too risky due to their short term, shareholder dividend NOW mentality. Spending money on alternative energy infrastructure might seem a boondoggle now, but the potential 10 or 20 years down the road is exciting. Imagine if we had began really developing an alternative energy grid in the late 70's when Carter was advocating it instead of becoming fixated on cheap gas and Hummers.....

It's a risk though. like any investment.
