Jake Delhomme to be released...again.

I bet you the Panthers sign him to a one-day contract and he retires.

I'm guessing this is the end of the road for Jake, sign him to a 1 day contract and let him retire as a Panther.

I agree with the whole one day contract and retire in Carolina deal.

Can this be done without a CBA?

And I will proudly wear my #17 jersey until it falls apart. Great guy, gave us some great years, and deserves great appreciation.

I'd sign him and let him backup Clausen, that is if we don't go out and pick up another one of the scrub FA Qbs available......not like we have alot of options.

actually would rather have him than volek. dude actually has some experience and hasn't quit on any team.

of course i wouldn't ever want him to touch the football, but yeah, i'd take him carrying the clipboard.

I'm torn whether to bring him in as a backup or not. Jake HAS TO know his days as a starter are over. I'm thinking Clausen, FA competing with Clausen...say Kyle Boller, and Jake solidly #3. That wouldn't too bad. I think Moore is gone and Pike can go to the PS...he's still eligable.

I'd take that going into opening day.

y would they need to sign him to a contract he is already under rofl.

Seems like retirement is best for Jake.

Under the no cap rule this year, didn't cutting Jake purge the entire balance of his contract? Wasn't that the 'appeal' of cutting big money players this season? It was something to that effect.

Jake was a fine QB until that elbow injury. Anyone that doubt's how that injury can effect the arm need's to check it out. He did play well enough in 2008 to help win the NFC south title. Yes I know about the Arizona game, watched every painful moment. I'd say at that point in the 08 run Jake's arm was in bad shape, he never got the zip back he once had. Jake was the QB for the greatest moment's in team history, that's the Jake I will remember, you know the one who threw a 85 yard TD pass to Moose in SBXXXVIII.
