The one thing these lists tell me is that Kiper, McShay, and Mayock have one thing in common:

They don't listen to the Huddle enough.

PS: Kiper will probably have Newton at the top of his board by the time all is said and done, especially with Newton getting that gigantic endorsement deal.

I thought micnificent had assured us that Newton was already Kiper's #1

Everybody rating Gabbert as the top prospect doesn't really convince me that he's a franchise QB though. Best available in this draft maybe, but that's not the same thing.

Anyone who has Locker ahead of Cam at this stage has no credibility. McShay was high on Locker last year and the beginning of this year. He is trying to save face but that list will change trust me.

Kiper is clueless about the QB's in every draft.

Gabbert is rated above Newton because he has no character issues and if you plugged him in day 1 would initially do better than Newton. But if you were drafting based on who had the best potential down the road I suspect that Newton would have a much higher upside. And really isn't that the point when you pick a QB knowing they aren't going to play day 1. Even if you have to wait a year or two. I would rather pick a guy who will sit a year or two and then lead your team for the next decade as opposed to getting someone at a less important position who you can plug and be productive right away. I wonder if anyone in Green Bay is still unhappy that Rodgers sat the bench for 3 years and gave them little to nothing during that time.

I still don't understand where this type of logic comes from. So your saying Gabbert is just a smarter QB then Newton right? People that think this way what is your proof?

that's not what he's saying, he's saying that newton has a past with questions about his character, whether you believe them to be true or not, they are there. and gabbert would initially do better in theory due to the fact that he is a more prototypical passing QB than Newton is. he went on to say that newton had more upside though, so taking newton would make sense too

Seems you have a pretty good grasp on reading comprehension, LOL. You obviously get it. Gabbert may be better able to come in and pick things up because his spread offense relied on making reads at the line of scrimmage and keying off the defensive scheme similar to what most pro offenses require. Newton played in a hurry up offense where his primary key was whether the DE was going up field or crashing in. The reads were simple and the play changes came from the sidelines and not from the quarterback. As such Gabbert is likely to make the transition easier than Newton.
On the other hand Newton is more gifted athletically and once he gets the offense down (however long that takes) will likely have more upside than Gabbert down the road. If you want a guy ready to play this year Gabbert gives you a better chance. if you want a guy for the next 10 years and are willing to wait until he is ready, then newton is a better long term choice.

Gabbert is rated above Newton because he's more of a "traditional" QB. To me, he's got all the same risks associated with him than Cam does without a third of the potential.

Locker? Mallett? You have got to be kidding.
