Doesn't matter what they've been through. Who, exactly, is trampling on their rights to be together and to love one another?

I'm with the other poster who says the Feds should stay out of recognizing any type of marriage. No married filing jointly... nothing.
The only exceptions would be members of the military, ambassadors, and other personnel who live abroad with family. (and yes, except for military personnel, they can currently bring homosexual partners abroad with them)

Sodomy laws aren't currently legal. If it happened in 1612 or 2003, they aren't currently legal in the US.
