D-Will a UFA

I realize that, and think he will stay for a reasonable price..

however,

RB is one of the easier positions to find talent, no one has ever said Goodson is equal to DWill, however he is a playmaker, people who think he isn't are crazy; yes, you spend cap room elsewhere if he does come at a high premium, there are 22 guys playing on the field, you don't waste cap space on a position like RB when you have 3 other talented backs, 2 of which are thoroughbreds as well..

What 2 are thoroughbreds? Stewy is but hasn't shown he can stay healthy or carry the load for a full season as starter. You can quote any stat you want, but he hasn't played a full year as a starter. Is Goodson the other thrououghbred? I see the upside but people here need to quit categorizing players as proven after a couple games. Goodson needs to learn how to hold onto the football before I consider him starter material.

I agree with you on everything but the Goodson being a thoroughbred part. He's a Foster 2.0. You give him the load D-Will is used to and you'll get the fumble machine. I like Goodson to come in with fresh legs after D-Will and Stew have worn down the defense or to catch screens or play the slot, some poo like that not a starting RB.

Goodson had 6 fumbles on 103 carries last season that's a fumble for every 17 carries. 3rd on the chart sounds about right to me

GREAT POST!!!! I wish Panther fans realized that being a starter and getting yards against fresh defenders v. coming off the bench or in the 4th qtr. against a tired defense is a different ball game.

I'd look nice against a defender after D-will hits a stutter step and breaks the guy's ankle and Stewart stomps on his torso a few times

you missed the game where Goodson stepped up and jump started our running game, being the 1st person to hit a 100 yards...

he'll get over his fumbling issues...

I trust our coaching staff will teach him how to hold onto the ball.. that's correctable.

the dude proved he can carry the load when his name is called and energized our run game last year.. time will further prove what we've already seen.

yes, DWill is the obvious answer, but if he leaves we all will have to carry on.. so will our run game. my point is we have a stable of backs who will effectively do so.

I hope does get better. I was just surprised by how many people are quick to say we don't need D-will because we have goodson and sutton. I don't think signing D-Will will be a problem for us specifically financially. I can see him giving us a discount just to keep "doubletrouble" in tact.

It's laughable really. The Panthers are the only team in the league I can think of that lets their best players walk and gets nothing in return. More proof that Hurney is just a numbers guy. This team needs a football guy in the front office.

We "let" players go"? Like who? We did all we could to get Peppers back here, including franchising him, but he wanted out. We've re-signed Smith, Thomas Davis, Gross, Gamble, Delhomme (mistake, of course) and franchised Kalil. Richardson has never had any problem spending money, with the exception of last year. You want to see a team that refuses to retain it's talent, look at the Bengals...

Is the new FA rules going to be in affect for this season? Or will it start next? Just seems kind of unfair to implement it right away.

He said he wants to stay and he's not a diva type so I don't see him demanding a crazy contract, but he should paid what he deserves. He can still put up a 1,000 yd 10 TD season while splitting carries. If we let him go for cap space what are we gonna do use it on more mediocre guys for depth or sign a playmaker to big contract, if it's the latter why let ur playmaker go in the first place? People that think Goodson and Sutton type are capable of what D-Will is are crazy.

So you'd let go a dominant RB for a Wr that hasn't shown any dominance?

How soon we forget:sad:

Rice was injured most of last year. Here's his 2009 highlights. If he plays anywhere near this good he'll be a good trade off:
