John Fox: "We kept Chris Weinke on the active roster for years. Armanti Edwards, tsk tsk tsk"

John Fox had never developed dick on the offensive side of the ball his entire career here. He gets shellacked when his teams can't physically dominate opponents-see the opener against the Eagles in 2009. He ran the most rudimentary offense in the league and watching him try to call a game when forced him out of his comfort zone was like watching my grandma, God rest her soul, try to use a computer. Why are people sticking up for him like he has a keen eye for talent all of a sudden? I mean he was one of the better coaches around when he could play his game but he just got embarrassed when that didn't work.

Whether or not Clausen or Edwards actually suck is a separate but overlapping issue.

This +1

Been saying for years Fox and staff never developed an offensive skill position player during his entire tenure that wasn't already a top draft pick.

John Fox on TEs

"Can't we just draft another lineman and stick him out next to the tackle instead?"

John fox never developed any player on the roster. I honestly think he just took it more as "these guys are professionals and I ain't their momma". So if they were willing to put in work he would work with them, but if they needed foot to ass the. He wasn't gonna be a babysitter. I kinda see that point of view, but when your paid the big bucks you do what need to do and he didn't.

honestly, I think Fox was able to develop defensive players pretty well, just... yeah, he blew when it came to offense.

I can't wait until we play Denver and our defense shoves the ball straight up Fox's arse.

Man, why can't we play them this year? I think we play them every 3 years or so.

it is not the responsibility of the head coach to develop players.

That is the responsibilty of the position coaches and their assistents.

This thread is full of idiots.

PC he chose the position coaches so it is his responsibility as Head coach too make sure your assistents are doing their JOB.

Again I don't blame Fox for not trying too develop young player on a team he knew he wasn't going too coach after the season.

I blame Jerry for going thru a youth movement with a lame duck coach. He should have fired Fox after his refusal too get Jake out of their and let Matt carry us too the playoffs last year. That was the last straw for me Fox prove beyond a doubt he wasn't the kind of coach who like too build thru the draft. He would always depend on a FA splash every year.

Absolutely right. He did chose his assistents.

Still, there is a lot of factors that go into developing a player.

That being said, it's clear that the idiots in this forum expected fox to personally develop each player.

Nevermind jarrett never took his job seriously.

Nevermind that not all players are dedicated to getting better and being the best (ste smith, davis, beason, just to name a few).

If I'm going to lay blame about a player not developing...it's going to go to their position coach, and their assistents.

If I'm going to complain about a position coach, then I'll lay blame on th head coach and gm.

but its not always the teacher's fault.....sometimes your students are simply not applying themselves the way they should, for any number of reasons.
