I switched from Fairley to Dareus once I did my homework, if that makes me a media puppet then so be it.

Oh nobody's excusing you of not having done your homework on Dareus. Far from it. It's obvious you know a lot about him.

.............In a completely unrelated note by the way, you misspelled his name in your forum title under your name. I'm sure you knew that though.

Hey I made one post that was poll of 10 guys. Now If you make a log of the guys that go from player to player just take a look at the people here. Since I been here the past two months I seen them switch from Fairley to Peterson to Green to Darues. No one I saw had Dareus as thier top guy until mock draft tv guys told them to do so. If any of these guys tell you Dareus was their pick from the top they're lying. edit I forgot Gabbert

This is exactly correct. Nick Fairley was the #2 choice behind Newton just 2 short months ago. I had laughed and pointed at his supporters and then they all mysteriously "did their homework" around the time ESPN and Randomnflmockdraft.com started sliding him way down and started favoring someone else.

2 short months ago before mass critique, interviews, test scores, combines and pro days.

Hype is always effective to some extent. It even effects you whether you want to believe it or not. All there is now is a bunch of opinions, get over it.

for many, he was a disappointment at the combine.

My God, this board is currently dictated by about 8-10 posters who are so vehemently forcing Cam Newton at every possible moment.

There is no such thing as "Anti-cam'ers"

Those that do not have a man crush on him simply want the best player, which will be determined by our FO. GET OVER IT.

Newton was no where near the top pick until all the good QBs decided not to declare.

As soon as Luck said he wasn't declaring, Newton became the #1 choice almost instantly. He actually had a lot of supporters even when people thought Luck WAS coming out.

a lot of people wanted Nick Fairley after his national championship game, since he actually looked really good in it.

Newton wouldn't be mentioned anyway until he declared which happened after Luck.

Absolute tripe. He wasn't in anyone's vocab for the #1 pick until Luck decided not to declare and the other top picks started to be picked at.

Amazingly his sub-par performance in the championship game seemed to be the catalyst for talk for his #1 potentials.

That said almost every media outlet still had him as their 2-3rd rated QB.

It's not been since the last month and a half that those same media outlets are now proclaiming him the saviour of the universe. And people think the media are against him

AJ Green, Fairley, Dareus, PP, Gabbert, Bowers blah blah blah were all ahead of him.

Until his awful showing at the senior bowl Locker was ahead of him as well.

I think what the OP is trying to say is, I have tried to start two threads to generate conversation. One about PP and one about Dareus. Both positive.

They cycled through the front page in a couple of hours.

Other guys just don't get the blood flowing like Cam wheter you are a hater ir a hugger. He is just a polarizing guy.

Actually one if the best QB coaches in the NFL said even before Luck declared going back to school that the Panthers should take either Cam or Luck. So it was out there by some from the beginning.

I watched the combine and people we're blown away by Fairley, he only solidified himself there. Dareus beat him in the 10 yard split but they were both very good in Indy and at their Pro-days.
