Govt should buy up the mortgages of everyone that has been making payments and did not take out a risky loan. Namely, me. That would free up a ton of money for me to invest.

Thats not the way it works. They would rather pay the mortgages of the people that shouldn't have got them to start with. The people like you and me that makes their payments can just keep on paying them because they obviously have plenty of money. The Gov has to help the poor under achievers so they can have everything the hard working responsible have. Its their right as an American!
