*sigh* If THAT is what you guys are considering HipHop now... i have no comment
These are all guys who are fairly big on Youtube. I'm bored as f*ck right now, so I'm just gonna break them down and give you samples. Saved the best of the 5 for last though, definitely check him.
Traphik (1st) is mainly a comedian that does music on the side, generally has witty lines. Skip to like :40 in this vid.
Dyme (2nd) is the one I like the least, but he definitely fits a niche.
Dumbfoundead (3rd) is an incredible battle rapper, and is solid all around.
D-Pryde (5th) is pretty... Interesting as well. He's being mentioned as a possibility for XXL's Freshmen Class of 2013.
Prince Ea (4th) I left for last because he's an anomaly in hip hop, the dude is literally a genius, top of his high school and college classes. He's rumored to be in the talks of signing with GOOD Music and working with Kanye on some stuff. I'm gonna put one video here, but my next post is gonna be a bunch of his stuff.
Best line from this...
"'Am I nice, how? Understand, never will they.'
That wasn't a question, instead was a statement, translate it backwards"
Backwards would be "They will never understand how nice I am."

can you guys recommend some funky sounding stuff? maybe something similar to tribe.
You don't hear of many these days that keep that vibe... unfortunately...
I'm sure there are some out there... I just don't know what to offer that isn't somewhere in this thread already... You'll have to go back several years in hip hop to get that sound...

"I'm the pacifist from Nazareth who raised Lazarus back, died and came back in a miraculous act" instead of simply calling himself "Jesus" or "the savior".
And then "Operation kill hip-hop: mission accomplished. You heard that new movie that they fixing to market? Notorious 2, The Story Resumes. This time, Christopher Wallace played by Christopher Walken; Lil Kim by Jennifer Garner."

Also, Big Boi's new album fuses several different genres into his sound:
I love these two:
My boss' son wrote a few of his songs and has been singing "Apple of my Eye" with him all week as he makes his rounds on Letterman, Kimmell, and Fallon, etc...it's really cool that Big Boi asked him to do it with him and I think it is the big break he has been waiting for. He has now been contacted by Jay Z and Beyonce to start writing for them also.
