Chris Weinke on WFNZ about training Cam

Arizona could be a great team for him to start against since they are one of the weaker teams on our schedule.

So no move to TE?

I kid.

Glad he's proving doubters wrong, myself included. None of this means anything until gameday, but I love the work he's putting in.

Agreed.

I was never a hater, or doubter, just worried about his ability to play in the NFL.

I am still worried, but am very excited.

Starting him from the beginning of the season scares the sh*t out of me.

What happened to bringing in a vet?

If the scheme is adjusted to him Im not worried that much. Remember how Delhomme was when he first started with the Panthers? Well expect Chud to do the same with Newton. Lots of runs and PA.

No matter how much effort he puts in, we still all need to remember that he is going to be a rookie and he is going to make rookie mistakes.

The expectations for this kid is going to be sky high in our fan base. We still have to remember that it is ALWAYS a maturation and learning process in the first year or two.

There's no doubt that he'll throw a few picks in his rookie season...

He will have a learning curve as well, once he gets on the field with his actual teammates, and he will have to build chemistry with his wide outs.

The difference with Cam is this: he's a natural leader and is obviously showing that he'll work hard to be great. Along with this, it won't take him long at all to win over that locker room and be the leader on O that this team so desperately has needed the past few years.

The defense will rally and get his back when he makes mistakes, and he will... But what QB in general doesn't? I look forward to watching him grow in a Panthers uniform!

I feel like we just drafted a GREAT player and am ready to get these CBA shinigans over with. We all have a big reason to be excited about football this year.

It's gonna be a GREAT year to be a Panthers fan!! I just know it!

Yeah but before you get too excited, just remember Narwocki said he

Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness — is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable
.

Pffft. If Cam Newton didn't take short cuts he would work 20 hour days. And he clearly seems to have problems with Weinke's authority. What a lazy crumb bum.

Will require a very strong-willed, demanding coach to live up to his potential and avoid the trappings of fame and fortune, but even the greatest taskmaster will not be able to keep away the drama that is still swirling from a stained Heisman Trophy and littered recruiting trail that Newton left in the SEC. Can provide an initial spark, but will quickly be dissected and contained by NFL defensive coordinators, struggle to sustain success and will not prove worthy of an early investment. An overhyped, high-risk, high-reward selection with a glaring bust factor

Amazing how the very strong willed and demanding Rivera has been able to silently sit behind the lockout gate and be so demanding of Cam Newton with just the sheer force of his telekinesis. Otherwise there is no way Cam Newton would do this work on his own. He would be vacationing in Mexico.

that is awesome to hear.

I don't recall hearing stuff like this about Clausen last year when he came out.

Cam is starting to win me over guys. He's doing everything right and doing it well it seems.
