If this is true, being a Christian, and not to turn this into a religious debate, isn't a good sign of things to come.

As a Christian, I don't think it's a sign of anything.

Unless something huge happens this Saturday.:D

If the world turns it's back on Jerusalem (and if Obama calls for Jerusalem to surrender land, that is the beginning), then we might have something to discuss.

Meanwhile, my fantasy baseball team is getting hammered. I had 4 damned starters who had games postponed tonight because of weather.

This is the only solution.

Trust me, I've analyzed Hamas and there's really no other way to deal with the situation. This is coming from a Jew, even.

No, not at all, actually. If that was the case, why did you use "demand" when neither of those foreign links you provided did? Obviously the title of the thread has a different meaning the way you scripted it to.

How do you not see a difference between "Obama demands Israel redraw its borders" and "Obama asks nicely Israel redraw its borders"?

you are obviously very anti-semantic.

Update:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bluntly told President Barack Obama on Friday his vision of how to achieve Middle East peace was unrealistic, exposing a deep divide that could doom any U.S. bid to revive peace talks.

In an unusually sharp rebuke to Israel's closest ally, Netanyahu insisted Israel would never pull back to its 1967 borders -- which would mean big concessions of occupied land -- that Obama had said should be the basis for negotiations on creating a Palestinian state.

"Peace based on illusions will crash eventually on the rocks of Middle East reality," an unsmiling Netanyahu said as Obama listened intently beside him in the Oval Office after they met for talks.

Netanyahu insisted that Israel was willing to make compromises for peace, but made clear he had major differences with Washington over how to advance the long-stalled peace process.

Netanyahu's resistance raises the question of how hard Obama will push for concessions he is unlikely to get, and whether the vision the U.S. leader laid out on Thursday to resolve the decades-old conflict will ever get off the ground.

Despite assurances of friendship by both leaders, this week's events also appeared to herald tense months ahead for U.S.-Israeli relations, even as the Arab world goes through political tumult and Palestinians prepare a unilateral bid this fall to seek U.N. General Assembly recognition for statehood.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Obama said he reiterated to Netanyahu the peace "principles" he offered on Thursday in a policy speech on the Middle East upheaval.

The goal, he said, "has to be a secure Israeli state, a Jewish state, living side by side in peace and security with a contiguous, functioning and effective Palestinian state.

Obama on Thursday embraced a long-sought goal by the Palestinians: that the state they seek in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip should largely be drawn along lines that existed before the 1967 war in which Israel captured those territories and East Jerusalem.

Netanyahu, who heads a right-leaning coalition, responded with what amounted to a history lecture about the vulnerability to attack that Israel faced with the old borders. "We can't go back to those indefensible lines," he said.

Picking a fight with Israel could be politically risky for Obama at home as he seeks re-election in 2012.

Israel and the surrounding states are like Optimus Prime and Megatron.

In the end one shall stand and one shall fall. Or both will fall and one will get turned into Galvatron something like that.

Hmmm.... maybe that already happened and the UK and ourselves are Unicron.

Wait only 40 years ago there was a lot less land for Jerusalem to surrender, so why wasn't it the end of the world back then?

We've done this long before Obama was president (I realize you know this rodeo).

We also immediately veto anything the UN tries to levy against Israel for their abuse of human rights.

I am reading a book about the 67 war right now. Very interesting in light of current day events. Three things stick out to me.

1. The Israelis didn't really want to go to war with Jordan, they nearly begged Hussein to refrain from entering the war. And there were some Israelis who thought that taking the West Bank would be more trouble than its worth. They turned out to be right.

2. The Arabs are wanting what they already had and would continue to have had they been less concerned with posturing and more concerned with the military reality that their forces were significantly inferior to Israel.

3. Once it became clear that they were losing badly, the Arabs began blaming the US, saying it was US warplanes that hit their bases, instead of french built, Israeli owned aircraft. They still can't accept that the Israelis beat them like a red headed step child and would do so today if the conflict renewed. If they could accept this basic fact, then they might begin to have some effective negotiations with the Israelis.
