hey p55 at what dollar amount does it no longer count as labor v. management?

also lolling so hard at "they never had a leg to stand on"

yeah those whole supreme court cases? nothing.

It isn't a dollar amount that is relevant at all. This isn't labor versus management in a classic sense with one group taking advantage of the other and the other needing protection.

As for players being right here, there is no right or wrong just what they can agree on and come to a mutual settlement. Players are whining about about what they think they will lose in future earnings if they keep earning the lion's share of revenues given they have no expenses taken out on their side. No one is taking a paycut the players are simply not making money at the same 8% increase as in the last few years. And if they negotiate in earnest they can get a settlement they can live with. The whole litigation strategy was to gain leverage not to actual win.

As for the players never having a leg to stand on, I was talking about the current litigation not court cases from 20 years ago.

it'll be over in the next 2 weeks

I hope so. The 8 day mini camp would augment the OTA's and other mini camps and we oouldn't be too far behind. Not so far behind that we couldn't get it together before Game 1.

you shouldn't.

capital has triumphed over labor once again, simply by gaming the legal system.

they've won because they're in better position to weather a federal case.

they've won because it's easier to marshall 31 white millionaires than 1500+ football players.

they've won because the system is gamed in their favor.

fug all our lives.

we're in a country that was founded by rich white men and is run by rich white men. It's not that turrible a situation you just need to accept it.

This isn't about organized labor versus management at all. Football is already a special case as are all major sports leagues. Players are treated better than most any other worker and with a minimum salary of over 300,000 it is hard to feel sorry for the trodden masses. Even practice squad teams get 5000 a week.

Homestly the players never had a leg to stand on to begin with. If we were talking players 30 or 40 years ago then you could have made a case. But honestly players are pampered and treated damn well. Who among us wouldn't trade places if we had the talent to be able to play football at that level.

The whole complaint that players are getting done in and treated unfairly is crap IMO.

Right on Spot...

They are whining and crying about what the Owners do with their money. The special exemptions the professional sports have in place is to be able to keep parity within the league.

The players have more amenities than most companies. As you said minimum salary over a quarter mil. They are hardly being mistreated.
