i've had to do this. this was my situation

plead guilty, pay a fine for a few hundred dollars (less than what an attorney would have cost going to trial)

plead not guilty (which I was) go to trial and possibly end up doing 6 months in jail

yay justice system

No, since I have priors I'm not eligible for a 90-96 deferred judgement.

And as to the other question about why I would plead guilty to something I didn't do. I didn't technically plead guilty, I plead "No Contest", semantics really. The reason for that is because a Jury trial is always a crap shoot, take a guaranteed solution with no prison time or roll the dice with a Jury and risk going to prison...which would you take?

That sucks...

plus you'd need to know the background and evidence the police had too. Are you currently using?

They used text messages from my phone that were pertaining to my legitimate website business against me as evidence. "Is that coding going to be done from you're team out west anytime soon"...."How much do you usually charge for a site with 6 subpages"....stupid poo, but that's what they do.

Nuts...but understanding the stupidity/ignorance of most people in the American public that happen to actually make it on juries, you probably did the best thing.
