Gives some insight on the jurors and what they were thinking...

At least it sounds like they really listened and put thought into it... you can't fault them for following instructions... if the prosecution didn't remove reasonable doubt, then they cannot legally convict her.

Legal terms are so easily thrown around...

Anyone ever thought about what is "reasonable doubt"?

It is HIGHLY subjective, and is influenced GREATLY by the Judge's instructions to the jury.

Just so you understand how this works... after both sides of a case like this close arguments, the Jury is taken out of the courtroom to a juror's room, and the Judge meets up with them there.

Then, he reads off the charges, and gives the jury specific instructions on how they can decide the outcome of the case.

And to that point... you CAN convict someone of a lesser charge in these situations given the evidence. Did the Judge give the jurors those instructions?

From this statement by one juror, I'm going to say that the Judge did NOT:

If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be

Everything I've read about the case points to a conviction of at LEAST Accessory to Manslaughter.

http://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/info/accessory-to-manslaughter

Accessory To Manslaughter

The term accessory to manslaughter is a criminal offense in the United States. Manslaughter refers to the killing of a human in any manner that is considered to be less culpable than murder. Often, the term manslaughter refers to a situation in which the individual's frame of time at the time of the murder. This instance may include the unintentional killing of a person but with a willful disregard for life. However, an accessory is not the person who committed the crime, but someone who allowed it to happen, had knowledge of it happening, or who performed actions after the incident to hide the incident or the criminal from the law. An accessory may face lesser legal charges than the criminal may.

If Casey Anthony didn't intentionally kill that child, she absolutely created a situation/environment which led to her death as her mother, knew of the death, and tried to cover it up.

The sentence for this type of crime varies, but would definitely put her behind bars for a number of years (probably about 4 to 10 years). Added to that:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/08/us/08anthony.html

Casey Anthony Sentenced to 4 Years

The sentences could have been consecutive.

http://definitions.uslegal.com/c/consecutive-sentencing/

States usually mandate consecutive sentencing for certain crimes and leave it to the judge's discretion to impose consecutive sentences for certain other crimes. A court will consider the gravity and circumstances of the offenses and the history, character, and rehabilitative needs of the defendant in determining whether to impose consecutive sentences

So, if they "threw the book" at Anthony, which I believe they should have given the nature of the crime and how she misled the media and police with her disapperance, she could have gotten about 14 years. Florida has about an 85% time-served record for manslaughter convicts, so she would have been in jail about 11.9 years. This sounds about right to me.

Don't be fooled people. Our system is heavily influenced by Judges and attorneys. It is not a true "judgement by our peers".

Why is she still in jail?

Lemme get this straight. One year each for the lies to cops. That's 4 years total. She's been in 3 already. Good behavior? Time served?

She's found not guilty, let her out already.

She was found guilty on 4 counts

She gets out next week
