You are definitely disgruntled this morning.
We all really need to stop this JR is a tight wad stuff. I wish I had the time (I don't) but I would love for someone to trace back year for year how we have been relative to the cap. I would say 14 out of 15 years as the owner he has been well over the salary minimum and probably close to the cap. JR is NOT George Shinn.
The cap is not the same as salaries. It is a manipulated total which can be easily changed by how you count the salaries and the provisions of the contract. Salaries is a better estimate of what Richardson is actually spending. Here is how we stacked up the last 5 years.
In 2010 we spent around 112 million again. Overall we tend to be in the middle of the pack typically around 15-20th. But it varies, in 2007 we were 27th while in 2006 we were 10th.
The cap in 2009 for example was 127 million but we spent 112 million. Remember that cap space include dead cap space, accelerated signing bonuses for players cut and a number of other factors which is not the same as money actually paid. Conversely, this year we may stay under the cap amount but from a salaries point of view, I suspect we might be top 5 well above the cap.
