Sounds like it's a definite possibility the Texans cut this guy. He's just 24 and only a couple of years removed from being a Top 10 pick. I say yes....

So is Aaron Maybin.

I wouldn't mind giving him a shot at all.

we have done this before, Tyler Brayton, Ken Lucas etc.

Lucas was by no means a bad player. Brayton was average and didn't really improve line.

I think it is funny how other teams think when a player is cut there is an opportunity to pick up an unnoticed gem. I guarantee this cat is the equivalent of our Richard Marshall. Good players rarely get cut or released. This is why free agents rarely work out.

That's a pretty sweeping generalization. What makes him expendable is not necessarily his performance but his SALARY. He was a top-10 pick, thus his salary is probably astronimical under the guidelines of the preceeding CBA. So, is he worth 6-8 mill a year? Probably not, but at the right price, he can be a valuable commodity for a team in need at the DT position.

And as for free agents not working out, see Charles Woodson, Julius Peppers, Ladainian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, Priest Holmes, T.O., etc. etc.

According to a lot of people on this board the only players worthy of being signed in free agency are perennial pro bowlers who are going to be pursued by everyone else and probably won't come here anyway since they want to win now. Nevermind the fact that we have had success with first round reclamation project defensive linemen and under the radar signings.

Exactly - Brayton and Lucas both started for us for 3 years each. I'd say those are relatively solid free agent pickups.....

amobe is not a bad player is what i was getting to. he did have decent numbers last year 44 tackles 3 sacks. plus he is 24 years old.

So if Deangelo signs with another team are they getting a bad player?

Amobe would be a nice pickup, he doesn't fit the Texans style of defense and could use a new start. A solid, smart FA pick up.

Sometimes it's just peronality clashes or he didn't want to be on that team to begin with. Yeah, it might hurt now, but if goes to a team and coaches he wants to play for...he will get paid.

I'm just saying, dont value him by his draft status 3 years ago. I think there is some upside and would like to have him to stop the run.

Houston is also switching to a 3-4 and he doesn't fit that system at all.

exactly he does not fit that scheme, although he could play the 5 tech. he is big enough at 315.
