Shockey is a man possessed and kept making plays...on one bad pass, that was likely to be picked off, he played pass defense and tomahawk chopped the DB breaking up the INT.

Shockey is going to kick ass....
for one year.
GO SHOCKEY
That's all that we need. Hopefully, Olsen hangs around for awhile. Kid impresses the poo out of me.

That's one thing that did not make sense with Fox. He wanted to pound the run, but he never really relied on PA pass to the tight ends like many of the other great running teams have.
I think the way the offense is constructed is going to be really helpful to a young athletic QB.
Look down the field on deeper routes for Gettis/Smitty and if safetys drop back, then dump down to the tight ends or running backs, and if/when the LB's drop back Cam can run/scramble for a couple of yards if nothing is open. Vick/Rodgers/Big Ben all used this very much in their rookie years.

Just having a reliable 2nd TE (Olsen) to rotate in will make Shockey better. I agree he still has a lot to bring to the table. Just hope he can stay healthy!

I'm pretty sure Olsen will be the #1.

Shockey sounded like he has come to terms with himself after all he has been through in New York, New Orleans, and with his injury problems, but he sounds like has changed.
I remember him playing in the big apple, and I hated him, I just thought he was a selfish, arrogant, piece of crap...BUT, after hearing all of these positive comments on twitter about him, I'm really pumped to see him in action.
Regarding Olsen
I always liked Olsen, I thought we were going to draft Olsen the year he came out, and I was a little dissapointed that we didn't...BUT, hey everything came togethor. Olsen ended up finding his way to Charlotte the long route and we have are main man Beason that ended up being the pick in that particular draft.
Regarding Barnidge
I like what I'm hearing from Barnidge right now out of training camp (even though we here the same thing every year about him), it seems like him and Cam have a strong connection on the field.
Ben Hartsock
Only blocking tight end on the team, but can't practice until Thursday.
I would like to see the combination of Shockey, Olsen, and Barnidge...BUT, I have feeling that Hartsock may get the last spot due to him being the only true blocking tight end on the roster. Unless, they choose to keep two fullback's and decide to put Hartsock at fullback with Fiammetta, but that would also mean Hartsock would be beating out true fullback Rashawn Jackson, which I don't think is realistic, but you never know.
