Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh aren't even remotely similar.

just both of them being on the radio makes them remotely similar :spam:

I can't figure out what the two parties can't figure out.

This is what a blowhard entertainer DREAMS of.

Free PR in a place he is normally mostly ignored, places like CNN and the local nightly news.

Wow. Rush has to be super happy. I don't listen to him, but I know enough about radio personalities to know that this, coupled with the election of a Democrat to the White House, plus an Democrat led Congress has to be like hitting the lottery for an already wealthy man.

Oh well.

Maybe this kind of stupid flap will wake up the Republicans. If people REALLY believe this guy is somehow a "leader" in the party......they have a lot of work to do in the next 4 years. As if the last 8 with W weren't bad enough for ruining the party.

Wish the Libertarians could step up and fill the void in fiscal conservancy and promote the intelligent position of social liberalism in combination.

Guess that is impossible when you have to pander to a base of thumpers.

Bleh.

If that's true then I wasn't talking about you. I'm talking about the people like the guy two offices down from me who claims that he only listens to Rush because he is funny and occasionally says something he agrees with. BUT every day his radio is tuned in and he doesn't like to take meetings during the that time.

As a registered 'Pub and an previously active member of the GOP I view Rush as one of the Rights worst enemies. He does more to feed the elitist rich white male hypocrite stereotype of Republicans than the Left could ever hope to do.

Zod said that Limbaugh stole Howard Stern's shtick. Hell, I think Olberman stole Rush's shtick, right down to the letter only from the opposite viewpoint.

^^Are you sure?

The Republicans have been rendered powerless and voiceless.

And even though you and I see the pill popping fatman as a joke and exactly the RIGHT person to have leading a party you want to see gashed.....does it not make more sense to let them ruin themselves rather than drawing attention to their issues?

Like it or not, he has a loyal, large fanbase, and can draw attention.

If I were doing the strategery, I would want them to wallow in mediocre leaders, poor public speakers, and a message that has become tired and old, rather than giving them ANY face time or air time or spotlight.

But maybe they and you know better than me.

I always think parties destroy themselves better than if you try to launch attacks.

Look at W.

What was better than his dumb ass mucking around for as long as he did.

McCain shot himself in the foot over and over, and Palin......need i say more?

Let them destroy themselves. Giving someone power thru recognition is not a good idea, IMO.

Everyone keeps saying the Republicans have no leader, blah blah blah. Last night Charles Krauthammer said what I've been thinking...why do they have to have one right now? Does anyone remember the Democrats circa 1991? Bush's approval ratings after the war were like 90 percent. The Democrats had nobody...NOBODY...set up to challenge him in the next election. Out of that void stepped this governor from Arkansas.

Sometimes it helps to look 300 yards down the road instead of right in front of your car.

I would want at least someone to be the "next big thing".

People around here knew Obama was waiting in the wings.

People knew Hillary was waiting.

Who is the Republican coal, smouldering, waiting to catch fire?

Not a leader per se, but someone with a personality, someone with a message (even a stupid one). I believe that is why Rush is suddenly on the radar. Since he has a voice, a message, and recognition.

Saying they don't NEED a leader or a voice is pretty damning, IMO. An admission of just where they are right now.

They have plenty of young talent. I hate to say it, but one of them is named Bush. Pawlenty. Jindal, although he's got to recover a bit now. Palin (I hope not, but truth is she appeals to religious conservatives). I think Romney has a great shot against Obama in 12 if he doesn't have any big screwups. He can chip away at Obama on every mistake he makes with the economy, and have a leg to stand on.
