The constitution said a "wall of separation" between church and state.

Did it now?

In which article or amendment does that phrase appear?

Yeah that phrase was from a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote to explain his intent in writing the 1st amendment.

One thing I have noticed being out of the South for the last 8 years...... Religion is not the same (heated/shoved in your face/fire & brimstone) everywhere outside the "Bible Belt". I actually like church outside of the South. No one is running through walls, jumping around or falling down wiggling on the floors out side the "Bible Belt" (unless it is a Southern based denomination). Not saying the "Bible Belt" is wrong, just saying there is a HUGE difference out side of the South when it comes to Religion........Oh!!! And all the Race Crap too!! IMO

"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

-Galileo Galilei

People that believe the bible is true need to stop assuming it's true because it says it's true. That kind of logic is ludicrous. Jesus commands his followers to be "wise as serpents" and I don't think the vast majority of Christians are anywhere even close to this.

I'll say it again: literary framework theory. Given the context of Genesis' time of writing, a literary method of telling a story which could not possibly then be understood makes perfect sense, and despite what the fundies say it does not undermine the legitimacy of the Bible as a whole.

The day Christians wake up and realize that science and faith are not mutually exclusive will be a glorious one indeed.

If people are wiling to believe is such a story, how hard would it be for leaders to brainwash them into other things... Like capitalism is Christian for example. ;)

So you just changed if from atheist and agnostics to average huddler.

 I imagine your average huddler is Christian. Considering this is a Panthers board and the Panthers are located in the south.

you'd be surprised by the makeup of this board. did you miss the thread where we determined (with the help of two colors, a venn diagram, and the purely scientific approach known as 'gut feeling') that this board is decidedly centrist?

can someone please a make a chart to show that the christians here are being persecuted by godless socialists?

I'm actually surprised it's not substantially higher than that...
