Is wes welker > smitty

Welker is a product of the system. It'd take a Patriots homer to even compare the two.

If Smitty played for NE he would totally embarrass Welker.

Welker definately better right now. Smith was much better at the peak of his career.

I would take Smitty 10 times out of 10 over Welker..

Why is this even being discussed.

Brady made Welker.

Smith made an entire franchise

We can only judge players on their game day performances. Lately Welker is the better player. Taking entire careers into account and I'd probably go with Smith.

It's almost impossible to compare two different players in different systems. However, I think the answer becomes clearer if you think what Smitty could do with Brady vs. Welker with Delhomme or Moore.

Either way, they are both great players.

Correct. Flash back to '01, slap Steve Smith with Tom Brady and 89 has a HOF career. Wes Welker only decided to be a receiver when he signed with the Patriots. Seem to remember him kicking extra points at one point in his career.

Also look at their career YPC averages and Smith is obviously the better of the two.

Wes is a better route runner than Smitty, but that's it.
