lol.
Wes is a good receiver, but there is a reason you don't see him being mentioned by ANYONE as the best in the league, despite clobbering everyone with impressive stats...

He is a beneficiary of an efficient system. His talent doesn't come anywhere close to Smitty's.

Spot on.

I don't think you can compare Welker in NE with most #1 WRs on other teams.

For example....Steve Smith had Charles Woodson on him every snap of the GB game.

Welker on the other hand spends most days beating LBs or Ss on underneath routes.

Soo...im in a text chat and some NE fan who became a fan in '01, says welker is greater than smitty. Of course i laugh at his comment and the arguement escalades to him sayin welker a true number 1 and smitty just a slot wr. I laugh harder this time telling him smith rarely ever in the slot, welkers game is only the slot. Bandwagon fans are hilarious.

Whats everyones opinion on the 2

i cant stand ignorant football fans. Welker is what he is today because of BRADY. Smith is what is he today because of his own talent, drive and god given abilities. Dont get me wrong, im not saying welker is a bum, hes a good player but in reality he is a decent player made good by the beast throwing him the ball.

imagine smitty got drafted to the patriots instead of us? without a doubt in my mind he would be 2x as far along as he is now.

Also remember this: 99 yards and 1 TD that Welker has right now was at the end of a game against Miami. Miami had almost no chance of winning, and blitzed with the Patriots on their own 1 yard line.

Pats took advantage, and Miami gave up the big play while trying to get the ball back. The ball hardly went 20 yards, and it is a 99 yard TD.

IMO, Smitty is the better WR. He has been productive as the ONLY offensive weapon on a team. Give Welker some of the coverage that Smitty has seen, and there is no way he would be more productive.

wat if we had traded smitty to the patriots as was once speculated

how would his numbers b up there?

think welker would still get the lions share of receptions?

I think when people look back and want to compare it won't be if Smitty had Brady. It's gonna be what if Welker had Cam Newton! Screw Brady and his bunch, we have Smitty and Cam...oh and after the season we will have their records too!

I'm ignorant because I backed up my view with facts? Why don't you move on, head over to the fantasy section of the site because that is the only place anyone can argue Welker over Smith.

i was okay until you added that Randy Moss is the reason Welker is better, but uhm, his best season in the absence of Moss, so that basically nullifies anything else you had said.

i can understand why a patriots fan would think welker is better, but i have a feeling welker would tell you in a heartbeat that smitty is a whole nother beast

i dunno, something about having a pass dropped in over your shoulder prettier than you can please on an nfl level that just makes a receiver better

or maybe i'm drunk at 1:30 am on a saturday so fug you fine young male

i was gonna post a smitty top 10 vs a welker top 10 but then i realized that all the top 10 welker plays were a product of perfectly delivered balls and he goes down on first touch

he's pretty good for a white boy tho

i really don't want to give smitty credit but smitty >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> welker

welker is more like proehl. wish we had him in the slot right now, but glad we have lafell there

fug you legedu naanee hopefully this is the last time you start for the carolina panthers because you will never be anything but a soft ass bitch that curls up into a fetal position anytime you think you might get your fuging bell rung

Really? Which best season is that? The 800 yard season? You're going to sit here and tell me Welker is better than Smith because he had 800 receiving yards as the leading receiver on a passing team? If you hate ignorant posters why don't you just stop posting, all you're doing is making yourself look like an idiot.

Except for one thing, both are having better statistical seasons then Cam and Smith. So how can you break there records when there already breaking yours.
