With one of the highest payrolls but the second worst record in the National League, the Chicago Cubs fired general manager and vice president Jim Hendry on Friday.

Assistant general manager Randy Bush was named Interim general manager, the team announced.

Doubtful.

Birdies chirping around here say it will be a first time GM type hire.

Which sucks.

It aint gettin' better anytime soon, and IMHO our new owner has not impressed in the short term.

It gets tougher and tougher to stay a Cubs fan.

Man I miss the double plays with Sandberg and Grace, the Hawk in the outfield and Harry Carrey in the booth.

Those, my friends, were the good old days.

It was time. Hendry had done good things for the Cubs, but thy hadn't performed up to standard in awhile, and that's a big market to be foundering the way it has.
