The Economist chimes in on the War on Drugs

Govt. grown, or govt regulated pot growth would result in massive economies of scale. Unless you're some hippie, you probably wouldn't be able to make an argument that it's better to grow yourself than to pick it up at the store. The cost savings wouldn't be that much, I'd assume, and the time commitment would be tedious.

Bottom line, how many people are bootlegging alcohol in today's society? Prohibition wasn't the answer with booze and it's not the answer with pot. Small time growers wouldn't be able to compete with large scale production. Less money going to organized crime, and more of it going to our government.

Funny thing is that Moonshine is relative expensive now. 25 bucks for a Gallon or so I have been told. More expensive than some forms of legal liquor. I think people occasionally drink it just to say they are drinking shine.

There will always be people who grow their own just like there will always be people who make their own clothes, grow their own veggies, make their own beer, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that if it were legalized that farm grown & gov't regulated grass would far outsell any home grown schwag.

Its really a moot point though. No mainstream lawmaker will ever come out in favor of decriminalization at the federal level. Its political suicide.

^Exactly.

I wonder if you could convince them by telling them we could leave their income taxes alone for awhil with the money we would save by not fighting the stupid "war on drugs" anymore.

Probably not. Everybody has their favorite things they don't mind tax dollars being spent on. I'd rather go with education and research funding, but I'm silly.

Would be huge if this happened. If we did it right and kept the weed grown in America by Americans that is. I don't think cocaine or anything like that will be legalized and it shouldn't, but weed isn't any more dangerous than alcohol, in most cases less dangerous actually.

IMO, cocaine and alcohol are about equally dangerous. Pot is probably less dangerous than alcohol.

Let me speak from vast experience with both substances...

Sorry I don't have extensive experience growing pot.

I was simply trying to make a point, I'm sure your advance hydroponics system would be much better.

Trying to make a point out of ignorance?

Sounds like you work for the DEA.
