Boy this religion thing sure is stickier issue than last months playboy. What I find funny is that theists shouldn't be arguing the point because faith is supposed to override doubt (the only reason to put up an arguement) and athiests shouldn't bring it up because if there is an answer to be found in the material world it will only be to prove the exsistence of the afterlife.

FWIW....I'll stop believing in God the day someone can give me a concise description of the state of nothingness.

I'll take this one for the atheists. It's a textbook retort. The burden of proof is on the believer.

I was in a state before I was born? not exactly nothing then, is it?

as for the comment of the burden of proof being on the believer, I beg to differ. Modern science depends on the theory of reletivity, yet I wager very few if any of us can provide the proof necessary to make it more than theory.

Redneck proof of relativity: My great great great great granddaddy took a great big poo in the creek. When he got done he looked a few yards down stream and say your great great great great granddaddy stooped down taking a cool drink.

Best I can remember, a state of general confusion and ambivilance. From what I've been told, a state of warm brightly lit sleep until a proper vessal was selected for me.

Why do you ask?

1) Strong Theist: I do not question the existence of God, I KNOW he exists.
2)De-facto Theist: I cannot know for certain but I strongly believe in God and I live my life on the assumption that he is there.
3)Weak Theist: I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God.
4)Pure Agnostic: God’s existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable.
5)Weak Atheist: I do not know whether God exists but I’m inclined to be skeptical.
6)De-facto Atheist: I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable and I live my life under the assumption that he is not there.
7)Strong Atheist: I am 100% sure that there is no God.

This is Dawkin's belief scale. I come in at a 6, since I acknowledge that I cannot PROVE the inexistence of a deity, but again, I'm not the one making an improbable claim. So getting back to your point, in my mind that makes me "less crazy".

Alright, I'm number 1!!!!!

I'm cool with you being at #6 or what ever bro. We don't have to believe the same things to be friends. I still love you, and wish the best for you and your family. (Except I'm kicking your butt this year in fantasy baseball.)(Sorry, you missed the draft and got stuck with A-roid.)
