We don't know what Hurney is doing, maybe he didn't think Heyden fits our system.

Apparently Hurney thinks no CB is a proper fit for our system. (Unless maybe they used to play college ball in the states of NC/SC.)

...or their eyes are on the bigger issue at hand, the defensive line.

Yes I do think that the D-line is a bigger issue, but the weakness of the D-line only exploits the weakness of the secondary. Our oppposing QB has all day to pick apart our secondary. Yes, yes I know, weak d-line. Our weak secondary gives the QB to many options. Better corner play, less options, blitz a LB with weak d-line = less QB time in the pocket.

Maybe he offered and Hayden wasn't interested.

Who wouldn't want to play for the Panthers? crazy.

Dtan proves once again why he is the best poster in the MB community.

I hope you're right, although I'm not sure if any CB's released will be better than Hayden or the ones we've got. But i'll be patient....

Hayden went weeks without hearing from teams. Don't really think beggars can be choosers.

is off the market w/o us going after him. Hayden just signed a 1 yr deal with the Falcons. So now Newton will have to throw against him twice a year...

maybe you should consider all the teams who passed him up after his visits and that after all of that he only ended up with a 1yr deal before you post threads like this..

Do all those teams have CB situations as bad as our's?

he's never been a particularly healthy or durable guy. he was on the market a long time and he's just now finding a team why????

i'm not worried about us not signing him. i'm not worried about the falcons bringing him in. he won't be the reason we win or lose games against them. not even close.

he might have had an offer to come here and thought he would rather not. he might not have fit what the panthers wanted in a CB so they didn't put much into trying to bring him in. there are too many reasons for him not being here, but he's not talented enough as a player to be upset over missing out on.

is he better than what we have on the roster? maybe. but the bar isn't really set too high and there will be other CBs coming available who won't be as injury prone and who will probably fit more what the panthers need in a CB (mainly someone to handle the slot receiver).

I'd say the Vagies (after all their injuries) might be in a worse position, and they passed.

I'm going to assume you're talking about Giant's, but that's just a guess, as I really cannot understand your hipster west coast lingo..

Agree. I have thought for awhile now that Hurney and the scouting department already have their list of who they want to bring in, not just at CB but other positions as well.

This strategy carries risks, as the players they want may not come available, forcing us into the unenviable position of needing to make a trade, i.e. with the Eagles.

But rest assured they aren't just sitting on their hands doing nothing. Hurney is smarter than that.

is that relevant to bringing on an often injured more than healthy CB?

most likely the reason he only received a 1 year deal..
