I'll probably expand on it later.

mechanics wise, I see more of a Mcnabb in his delivery and balance, than a Jake Delhomme.

The only comparable thing they have is the shoddy foot work.

And he probably has bigger hands.

he does but not by a ton, daunte was 9 1/2, Cam is 9 7/8... still, hand size is perfectly fine for cam (as it was for culpepper imo)

fwiw, I think he is quite a bit more athletic than Culpepper was but that's no guarantee he will be more/less successful at all.

When he was trying to force it to Smith last week I got visions of Delhomme, but more from his target selection and ball placement... this week I really don't have a large enough sample size for comparison to anyone, but it was fun to watch.

i'll buy the jake delhomme comparison...as long as it's pre-surgery (which is what i was understanding it to mean anyways).

it more just has to go with the idea of him being a gunslinger. in college, i didn't really see him in that way, but i can really see it now. gunslingers aren't known for being consistently pretty throwing. it'[s often times very risky as far as the placement goes and will cause a lot of cringing. INTs will happen pretty often, but so will the big plays and TDs. it's more about mindset than anything. instead of trying to keep everything looking neat and precise it's more balls to the wall. those are the guys who end up doing some incredible things in clutch situations. it's still pretty risky, though it does make for some exciting football.

7 man blitz? It was 5 men and all were well picked up... he actually had time to step up, but eh, whatever.

at about 47 seconds... clearly not 7 guys coming...

I don't think the scramble was a bad play but it's the kind of thing I expect he'd correct if he had the chance to for future games (in terms of decision making), because despite what some people seem to think here, there's no way Cam thinks that throwing to Smitty is a risky move so he just likely didn't see him until he was past the line of scrimmage.

True I was exhagerrating a bit but that was a nice looking blitz by the steelers. We need some of that on defense

Pretty much.

Might be time to check prices on home defibrillators again.

The only reason Cam has national haters is because the Panthers have never brought in anybody from the draft in my memory that has so many expectations at the QB position. No one knew who Delhomme was before his rise, and after he rose up to a certain level of play, fans from basically every team hated him because he won games. It's different with Newton, all he has done in his football career is win games, and he is starting at the top of the hater's chain especially now since he is our starter. But I love the hype and criticism because it gives us exposure, and beneath all of the hate from other fans and teams, is fear because of what he might become.

He can already outrun you, run over you, & throw the deep ball. Hopefully one day he can pick apart defenses sitting in the pocket. The ultimate QB.
