Texans WR Dorin Dickerson released 6'2" 220lbs , no stats big fast guy, mold of a TE. Not sure we need a guy his size but some fans are shocked he's released. All I've got.

edit:News: Dickerson is getting a "firm hold" on the fourth wide receiver spot in Houston, Houston Chronicle writer John McClain reports. (Tue Aug 9)

Spin: Dickerson has been a generally positive experiment for Houston after selecting the former tight end in the seventh round of the 2010 draft. According to McClain, Dickerson has "caught everything."

ESPN Fantasy Projection: As a tight end prospect, Dickerson was an impressive physical specimen at the '10 combine, but he just didn't have the blocking chops to make it at that position in the NFL. So the Texans moved him to wideout and let him sit a year. He's got similar size and raw athletic ability to Jacoby Jones, but Jones re-signed with Houston in July, meaning barring injury Dickerson has no shot at the No. 3 job in Houston. He's a long-term project only.

meh, I think we need more of a 2 gap guy. Corey Irvin is pretty much the same as D. Lewis at this point.

I was hoping we'd give up the 6th or so it would take to get him.

Yeah, that would be a investment well worth making and I'd be all for it, but I just don't see Belichick letting him go without gouging the other team.

Hopefully someone comes along our way with similar potential/ability.

You can tell the Falcons program under G.M. Thomas Dimitroff is working because they are cutting better players in year four of the Dimitroff/Mike Smith era.

Solid veteran defenders Chauncey Davis, Trey Lewis and Coy Wire were among 17 Falcons cut on Friday. All three have played a lot of snaps for the Falcons defense, which is getting younger. 10 more players will have to go on Saturday.

Patty Y. said Panthers fans should keep an eye on Trey Lewis as a potential pick up.
