Would we just carry the extra DE, or is Norwood in peril?

Really don't know this staff's tendencies.

I like this pick up. He's played with T-mac before. Chemistry must still be there.

Selvie maybe the same size as Brown but he was much better in college and the little bit I've seen of him in the NFL he possesses more ways than Browns single way of getting past a lineman.

No he wasn't Brown was def. player of the year in the ACC. Selvie play for a non BCS conference. FSU is big time football UCF is a lower college in Florida.

yeah..it's a work in progress.

i'm just along for the ride at this point. some pick ups i like, others i don't. i'm in wait and see mode. so far nothing in the past few days has me feeling that we are any better of heading into the season.

Good to know that he earned all of that. I guess people are going to hate on every player we get because they aren't a pro bowler. Players like Selvie are what we need. Young, cheap and have potential to be good. Sure he had a bad rookie season but it can take a few years for defensive linemen to fully develop. The kid has the record for tackles for a loss in the big east and was one away from breaking the NCAA record. From what I read he was a beast his sophomore year and after that his stats started going down hill. This is partially due to being double teamed and having injuries.

I stumbled across this thread while searching for an update to Selvie's pro career, the St. Louis game prompted my curiosity.

Anyway, as a season ticket holder for USF football I can shed some light on his drop from a 1st round pick to a very late pick. George hit the scene in a big way in his Junior year at USF, he was a one man wrecking crew. If he had left college then he would have gone in the 1st or 2nd round no doubt, his stock was very high. But he chose to return and play out his Senior season.

Unfortunately for him he became the target of the opponents game plan, they double teamed him and made sure that he was accounted for. This left a transfer student, Jason Pierre-Paul, who is just a freak of a physical specimen, to run amok. So while Selvie got a bunch of attention Pierre-Paul piled up the stats in his single year with USF. Don't get me wrong, Pierre-Paul is a talent, but he got to be the "surprise" player in 2009.

So Selvie's numbers drop, he is less than ideal size for NFL DE's, whereas Pierre-Paul is right in the wheelhouse for what teams want. So Selvie plummeted.

I hope he does great with you guys, I am a huge fan of Selvie. Well, I hope he does great on all the games except the 2 against the Buccaneers...
