We celebrate christmas for Jesus's birth which actually happened in late october. The tree thing is definitely christian. It represents many things that have to do with the birth of Jesus. I think Christmas is a way for retailers to rape our pocketbooks. Yes I celebrate it but not to an extreme.

Well then what exactly do you call it? Pagan's had dibs, then here came the Christian's passing it off as their own.

how can you have dibs on a entire day. fact is christmas is for the birth of christ and if you do not feel that is true then dont celebrate christmas.

I don't quite understand how you celebrate birth with the death of a tree?

Christmas is the equivalent of throwing a birthday party for yourself 1-2 months before/after the fact, depending on when you actually believe "christ" was born.

Have you ever went to a Halloween party? Did you trick or treat as a child?

A lot of historical "experts" don't even believe he existed, yet you know exactly when he was born?

The tree thing is definitely christian.

Umm, no.. It is not... It's a pagan tradition...

The Bible even says that you shouldn't chop down a tree and adorn it with silver and gold..pretty much making it an idol... Read Jeremiah sometime....

It represents many things that have to do with the birth of Jesus.

Ummm.. what?

I think Christmas is a way for retailers to rape our pocketbooks.

i am a christian it sort ticks me off when people do it. just wondering why

I don't have to be a Christian to appreciate what Jesus the Philosopher stood for. Peace, love, equality. I think we can all celebrate that this time of year, no?

It is also Yule. Winter Solstice is viewed as a time of devine births. The Goddess gave birth to the Sun God. Dec 21.

Sound familiar?

You really should do some study into the holidays you celebrate. It will give you a deeper appreciation for them.
