Vick Mentors Cam

Who the hell really neg reps people?

I've given out probably 5 neg reps in the 6 years I've posted here. Mostly Falcons and Cowboys fans, but mutilated animal photos will also do it.

Comparing what Cam has endured to what Vick has, on any level, is pure idiocity.

Yeah it's okay if you mutilate & torture animals as long as you apologize for it, after being caught. But damnit if you post a picture of a dog mutilated by the person I'm defending that's just going way too far.

What?

Are you sure you're talking to the right person?

I hate, no I loathe Vick and I don't want him talking to Cam, but you can't deny he's traveled the tough road and has learned a few things. My hope is that Vick told him about how he's transitioned to the freak athlete he was pre prison to the much more well rounded, complete QB.

You don't think a serial killer could maybe give you advice on living your life? Much of the advice I give is drawn from my errors rather than my successes.

As I stated on page one I think Vick should have been permanently banned from the league, same with Jamaal Lewis and Ray Lewis. A felony conviction should be the end of the road. But, that doesn't exclude them from having lessons to teach from their screw ups.

No doubt he's one of the greatest players to ever grace the field and all in all a good guy and teammate, BUT you can't apply the rule or principle to some but not others, like here at the Huddle.

I can promise you that if you live long enough you will make one mistake that could possibly define you if you were famous. What Vick did was stupid beyond stupid and inhumane, but that does not disqualify him from ever again being a positive influence in the life of another individual in similar circumstances. People that you idolize have likely made mistakes that some people would view as unforgivable too, but you forgave them for their poor judgement enough to continue to respect their words.

If everybody that ever did something stupid, insensitive, disrespectful, inhumane, or all together terrible were no longer allowed to participate in society then we'd have nobody left to criticize from behind our keyboards.

I love animals as much if not more than most people here. I am careful to not use products that have been tested on animals. I try to live without causing suffering to other people or animals.... but I have made my share of mistakes that have helped me come to those conclusions.

What you're doing by posting those pictures of the dogs that were mutilated is not devaluing what Mike Vick has to say or admonishing his actions, you're using gore porn to try to shock people with what they already know that Vick has done. For example, say you've gotten a DUI in the past. Every post you make I follow you and post an accident scene photo of an alcohol related fatality regardless of what you say. Even when you say drinking and driving is bad because you've been there first hand, I post the same tired pictures that disgust people as if that devalues what you have to say. It wouldn't devalue your opinion. You would be more qualified to speak on it than anybody else because YOU HAVE been there in this theoretical example.

And I realize what I am typing is "long", by the plebeian standards of internet land where any post in excess of twenty words is in danger of being skimmed for high points.... but fortunately there are still a few literate people out there that realize that this post only took me about three minutes to type and would take you less than thirty seconds to read if you had the attention span.

I don't idolize anyone. No human being should be put on a pedestal.

Idolize may have been too strong... perhaps respect or attempt to emulate.

I like Vick the football player. He is a great qb & the most exciting player in the league at the moment. However, I find it troubling that Cam says he idolizes Vick.
