Brokenbad 66 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 In my eyes, there was a single play that cost the Panthers a victory yesterday. In the fourth quarter when we were in field goal range (with a guy know for his leg, Mare) the decision was made to punt the ball instead. Patrick Peterson then returned the punt for an 80+ yard score. I believe that play cost us the game.
mav1234 3,230 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 so it wasn't the 50 or 70 yard TD passes? or the 80+ yard punt return itself? bunch of plays lost us that game - but you are right that us failing to get points on that drive was no small part of why we did. Bruce 6 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 blown coverage/punt return for td.......was more than just one play imo
FugginPoo 628 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 That play, Olsen not catching that critical 3rd down conversion....Play calling at end of game, Defense...the busted play where Jeff King got TD and Beason blew his Achilles. Don't forget the idiotic penalities also, anyone of these thing don't happen and I think Panthers win.
PhillyB 43,039 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 you don't lose the game on a single play, you lose the game on prior series of underperforming. our poor tackling inconsistent pass coverage lost us the game.
Jackofalltrades 9,523 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Games NEVER come down to one play. It would have been a 58 yarder and Rivera made the right call. ST's didn't execute, simple as that.

Snake 5,861 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 TBH the whole Defense lost us the game. I like to go by the old rule. If you lose by 17 points or less its the offenses fault. If you lose by 21 or more its the defenses fault. We have major liabilities at the DT and CB area.
Darth Biscuit 12,771 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 The punt instead of FG was odd, but I don't think that lost the game. The PR touchdown really hurt, especially since the coverage team was standing around Peterson when he caught the ball... did they think he called fair catch? The two plays that hurt most were the two huge D lapses that allowed a wide open receiver to catch and run for a TD. Olsens play didn't help... went right thru his hands. EMSMedic79 536 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Poor tackling, dropped passes, lack of solid running game, no #2 receiver.... take your pick. The game was ours to lose.
mav1234 3,230 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Cams int that was another bad play but it wasn't the single play that lost us the game. unfortunately it immediately preceded King going 50 yards for a TD.:puke:
