I have three reasons for optimism.

They each started at 1pm over the past few Sundays, except for the very first which started at 4:15.

I gotcha now.

Notice you said "They each started at 1pm over the past few Sundays" Few means 3. Plus the 4:15 game makes 4.

Thats why I was lost. :-)

The Tampa 2 scare me a lot with Newton.

Beat that and we beat the Bears.

If we lose, I hope it's not on blown officiating, and bad calls.

You just need to stop hoping now.

I know we're Cam watching, but isn't about time for our O line to start hitting their marks in the new scheme? I would love a break out run game (stewie?) with Cam enjoying others carrying the team...

and of course, we got to hit Cutler a couple of times to keep him in check....

Just be weary, the only time the Bears ever play a good game is when we all think they are going to get their asses handed to them.

More worried about the evolution of DT Melton than anything else; he will make Peppers look better.

I think that we need to have a short, slant, 3 step passing game for awhile. Cam can't hold the ball...too much time for the rush and too much time for Urlacher to drop back in coverage with the TEs.

I'm not sure how many battles our TEs would win with Urlacher; of course, who would know Urlacher better than Olsen, on the flip side.

Bottom line, no mistakes, balanced attack, must have some semblance of a run game, screens going to the opposite side of Peppers, short slants (hello LaFell, this is you with that big body) to keep the ball moving, and take those long shots on first down, no other.

Defensive, just hit Cutler, and hit him often.

Special teams, well, with Hester, Mare/Baker best do their jobs, Edwards on Punt Returns and Goodson on Kickoffs don't scare anyone; but, well, nothing to be done about that now.

Winnable game, Panthers 24, Bears 17.

Put Steve Smith on Tim Jennings and watch him catch 20 passes for 8,000 yards.

The only time I use a similar opponent tween 2 opponents to judge who might win is in boxing

I dont do that in football or basketball. All about matchups. What I see is a team who if you hit and pressure their QB they will crumble. And a D that is weak against good TE's

If Cam gets a hot start like he did against the Packers, it's game over. The Bears won't be able to catch up. Unless we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Secondly, the more I think about it, the more I believe the Jaguars game was a trap game for Carolina, in which, we came out victorious. I feel the Jags game was sandwiched between a game vs the defending super bowl champs (we gave them our best shot, as do all teams playing the champs), and a game in which Ron Rivera admitted was going to be a very special game vs his old team the Chicago Bears.. so I expect him to have looked forward a bit to this game, and may not have given his best shot towards the Jaguars. Hence, Cam Newton's sup-par game.

So you think Ron Rivera was looking over a team when he was trying to get his first career win as a head coach? Ron Rivera takes every itty bitty thing seriously and looks at it very closely. He is not the type to overlook an opponent.

Also you think the coach over looking a team is the reasoning behind Cam's below average game?

Neither of those things make sense whatsoever.

If we win this game we win the next 3. If we lose then i say we dont have a playoff potential team. But im sure cam and steve will say hello to everyone at Chicago ;D
