Don't expect us to run much more than we have been...

In a new video conference that ran on the NFL Network today Ron Rivera said:

"We are a Vertical Attack PASSING offense, that's what we like to do."

When being asked about running the ball more He said: "we had to because the weather dictated that, but we are a vertical attack style offense"

So the debate is over. We have a new identity that He and Chud are implementing. Don't expect us to run the ball much more than we have!

DeAngelo is probably loving life right now... You mean you're gonna pay me quadruple what u did before, AND ask me to do less... Where do I sign?

You can find the entire video on panthers.com

Thought u guys should know though.

if they knew they wouldn't be running as much then why did they pay deangelo all that money?

We need to start blocking a lot better or Williams will be burning a hole in the roster.

It's certaintly looking like another one of Hurney's biggest mistakes.

I guess we can add that with the Delhomme contract?

and both were headscratchers to most outside of Carolina......

Hurney and probably Richardson must just want to reward guys for what they have done even if the future looks nowhere near as promising as the past.

I don't think we will totally abandon the run. If the D starts overplaying the long pass you will see it come back to life.

Hurney fucking things up again. We should have spent that money on other needs like DT and CB.

Am I the only that is thinking if we are truly a all out passing team now and J Stewart is fitting our mold better for less money, trade D Williams?

Hated to even type that though.

Teams will begin to focus on our passing attack, and the running will get better.

Both backs are also apart of the passing attack.

They wanted to retain willians, and they did.

Hate the decision all you want to, it wasn't yours to make.

Will be interesting to see what Chico does should Cam start stringing together multi-INT games

Once we start getting some leads we'll run a lot more.

Neither HB will get 1000 yds this season. The NFL is a passing league and we finally joined the club. When we need to run, we have good backs. If you want to argue we're paying D-Lo too much well that's a whole other issue.

Yup, we have finally evolved... run first teams can't win in the NFL anymore.

That statement is incorrect.

You need to have a good quarterback that can carry a game here and there but running the ball is and always will be essential.

Here we go again interpreting people's thinking. Pass first offense still leave plenty of opportunities to run the ball. First year with a new offense, give it time.

Off the top of my head- the Texans and Packers jump out.

I'm stoked about our philosophy and direction under Chico, but I'm not gonna lie, I always had a dream of one of our guys having a huge year and breaking the single season rushing record... Or maybe one of our guys having like a 12k+ career total...

But, wouldn't be mad to see Smitty with 120+ receptions and 1500+ yards this year though, lol.

All I know is, we better not have another monsoon.

Both Stewart and Williams are catching more passes this year. Both are on course to have career years in number of receptions. Stewart could actually pass his career mark in receptions this week or next.

Yes, its a vertical PASSING offense. But please understand, the run game is a power o style. There is a lot of movement in the interior o-line and when they start clicking on timing, we are going to see d-will break off huge gains.

The problem so far is that teams have defended us as if we were a running team, and our guys are slow to their spots, and d-will has been slow to see the hole. It is a completely different scheme than anything he's seen.

It's hard dealing with change period. It's odd that our offense has evolved almost overnight; at least it seems that way. In the end, we will run more, but it will be nothing like what we've been used to seeing. It's that simple.

If you watched Cam's post game interview, you could tell that He genuinely felt bad for not getting the ball to everybody on every play. He said we have so many playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and there are multiple people open on every play, that ^He said He felt bad for not being able to throw multiple balls per play.

He also said there's no way pre-snap to kind of determine which player he'd like to have the ball on that play. Pretty high praise for his guys...

There's nothing to interpret... It's self explanatory... Watch the video or gtfo!
