So I Praised Cam Newton in Public Speaking Class...

29 posts in this topic

3/4 of the people in my class didn't know of Newton, or probably the NFL for that matter.

I got 2 shaking heads when I started talking, but I laughed it off. I live in Maine so I catch flak from time to time, but I am used to it.

My biggest point about Newton: He has, at the VERY least, given Carolina hope of success when compared to last year. I mean, 1000 yards and 4 TD's through 3 games, when Clausen had 1300 and 3 TD's through what, 13 or so games?

Jeez.

Yeah the guys a rookie, hes played 3 games, but damn.

It was funny though, people at my school don't know football, probably never heard of the Panthers. But eff em. Cam Newton be praised!

Cam has been great speaking to the media. He has obviously been very well coached, and he has been very receptive to that coaching. The kid wants to be a legend.. so far so good..

What do people in Maine play anyway? Just hockey?

Good friend of mine is from Maine, and they like the other futbol a lot up there.. And hockey is obviously king. Families play that schit out in the yard.

    • If nothing else that would mean more kicker jobs as guys like Lloyd would be in demand as a kick off specialist.
    • im generally ok with individual consumers boycotting but tbh im a little annoyed with companies boycotting. these businesses aren't benevolent and boycotting doesn't make their product more pure or their mode of production more ethical. i mean hey big deal ncaa, you moved your games. you're not taking much of a hit there but you get your positive press for your incredibly shitty business. like ok cool you hate the dumb law, i do too. maybe pay your employees before trying to stake out the moral high ground though??? meanwhile the nba moves it's all star game to louisiana where the largely black prison population still picks cotton on "former" slave plantations. hb2 is so mind numbingly stupid that it's easy to oppose without fear of having to sacrifice meaningful profits. im saving praise for companies that oppose oppressive institutions that aren't easy or profitable to oppose.
