2010 stats: 40 tkls 8 TFL 4 Sacks (led DL in all)
2011: 26 - 8.5 - 3.5




Brandon Thompson - Clemson

6'2" 310 lbs

2010 stats: 56 tkls 7.5 TFL 1 Sack
2011: 45 - 6.5 - 2.5



Josh Chapman - Alabama

6'1" 310 lbs

2010 stats: 31 tkls 3.5 TFL and a sack.
2011: 22 - 3.5 - 1



He can get penetration and is excellent at holding the point of attack. Great run stuffer. Should make it to the 2nd and I actually believe he is better suited for our 1 (4-3 NT) tech then he is a 0 tech (3-4 NT).

Kawann Short - Purdue.

2010 Stats: 41 tkls 11 TFL and 6 Sacks :eek6:
2011: 53 - 14 - 6.5



Hes my Fav candidate so far (followed by Martin). Not only can he get penetration but he is great at holding the point of attack and would make an excellent 1 tech (4-3 NT). Right now he's probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Devon Still - Penn State

6'4" 310 lbs

2010 stats: 39 tkls and led team with 10 TFL and 4 sacks
2011: 49 tkls 14 TFL and 4.5 sacks



More of a 3 technique then a NT but is great at creating penetration.


Mike Martin - Michigan

6'1" 300 lbs

2010 stats: 37 tkls 6 TFL (09 stats: 51 tkls 8.5 TFL)
2011: 54 tkls 4 TFL 3 Sacks



All I can say is just watch the film. His motor is unreal, he never gives up on a play. He is a former wrestler and is a hoss benching 500 and he can squat 700 and I have read that he runs a 4.9 40, thats impressive for a NT. Right now rated anywhere from 4th-6th round but could rise. I like him as a sleeper somewhere around the 5th and could be a steal.

Dontari Poe - Memphis

6'5" 350 lbs (big ol boy)

2010 stats: 41 tkls 6.5 TFL 2 sacks
2011: 33 tkls 8 TFL 1 sack

I only include him due to his size and strength as I have not been able to find any video on him.

Chapman is a nice big body but isn't that position taken up by Ron Edwards when he returns? Worthy wouldn't be a bad get. Seem's to be using his hands better from what I read. Thompson doesn't put up big stats but seems to make an impact in the game. Kawann Short is a good DT too.

If he comes back and if he is as good as advertised. Besides that kind of thinking is what got us into this mess. I remember back before the 2010 draft how everyone thought we were set with Lenoard and Tyler. Neither are still on the team. Our Run D is so bad we need to invest in a NT in a hurry.

I believe he will be there. He is not one of those 330+ pounders that 3-4 teams are looking for so I could see him being there when we pick in the 2nd. Which is perfect as we could get Kalil in the 1st (if he is there) or address the CB position. If we could get Kalil then Chapman we would have both our lines set.

I seriously hope Worthy falls to us in the second. Marcus Forston is another guy who's stock might take a dip. Full of potential but hasn't lived up to it yet.

Yeah, surprised he hadn't be mentioned yet. He has lost some weight over the off season in hopes of becoming more agile. He considered coming out last year but decided to come back.

Don't think Worthy will be there in the second though.

I feel like there isn't a "dominate" DT prospect right now. I think that primarily has to to due with fact that these past 2 drafts have spoiled us with a clearly dominate DT. I'm just waiting to see who else pops up over the course of the season.

Guys like Suh only come around once in a blue moon. Fairley was all hype to me. Besides we don't really need that (sure would be nice however) we need a solid 2 gap DT that can take up multiple blockers and allow our LB to make plays. Those guys usually don't get drafted high as there not as sexy of picks (unless its a 3-4 NT).

On a side note the QB, Chappell, really impressed me under pressure (hes a FA).
