I'm pretty sure our draft needs will change based on players that leave in free agency and who we sign in free agency. Its pretty silly to have your heart set on drafting a defensive player in the first round when a WR might be the better player and the team may have already strengthened the defense before the draft, and vice versa

I could use the same argument on you for having your heart set on a WR. I am focusing on what we know not on what might happen.

if we have a top 10 I'd take the elite receiver

You must've missed the part where I typed "and vice versa"

We aren't losing games because our O can't move the ball. You are blind if you can't see that. But of course another WR will solve all our problems.

When did I say WR will solve all of our problems.

What I'm saying is if the bpa is a WR then take the WR

And yes, a legit WR #2 will help this team by a lot. When it comes down to those last drives like we've seen in the past few games, then when Smith is covered Cam can throw to to some else who isn't the inconsistent Naanee.

I'm not saying don't address the D, if there's a DT who's better than any of the WRs, take him in a heart beat, but you are so against not taking a second WR it's not even funny.

It was sarcasm. And as I said BPA is a matter of opinion. Mine is that vary rarely, when a team could use an upgrade on every position on D, is that a #2 WR. Besides you guys all are assuming that all these WR will be great. I don't really love any of them. Jeffery I could live with. And no a #2 WR will not help this team a lot just ask the Falcons. Cam already has a ton of weapons and he is getting Gettis back who is a solid #2.

If this were still a Fox style offense in place, I wouldn't be in favor of going WR in the first...but I gotta say this Blackmon could be lethal in our offense and makes sense:

Newton
Williams-Stewart
Smitty-Blackmon-Gettis-LaFell (& whoever survives this season)
Olsen-Shockey
/with most likely an OL upgrade = the pieces are at least put in place on O

We still have other draft picks and the FA to grab DT, CB, & LB.

...and I wouldn't be surprised if we tried a late rounder on a potential backup for Cam.

The way the draft might play out for us, the BPA would be a WR or CB around pick 9-12. Hopefully Hogan turns out to be a stud and Ron Edwards comes back to show his experience at the DT position.

I like the WR pick here, if Blackmon, Jeffrey, or Floyd is there. But, I think Floyd will be the only receiver left. The Rams will most certainly take a WR. If the #1 CB in the draft is still there...take him. I think given the class at DT would be a reach, but we will see how it turns out.

Either Floyd (WR), Kirkpatrick (CB), or Thompson (DT) will be around to choose from IMO.

Who said Crick is the #1 DT????

Most places I've seen list him as the second best DE, not even as a DT. He's usually ranked in mid 20's overall as well. I could see him being the second or third best DT, but not the best. There's about a 10 spot draft difference between the top DT Thompson and Crick. If Crick was rated as a DT, he would be the second ranked DT comparable to Ta'amu ranking wise.
