LONDON, Ky. (AP) - All eight people indicted in an alleged eastern Kentucky vote rigging scheme entered not guilty pleas in federal court and a suspended judge was ordered held in jail for the weekend.

During arraignment Friday in U.S. District Court in London, suspended Judge Russell Cletus Maricle was ordered held because he was considered a flight risk and because prosecutors said he might try to intimidate witnesses.

Attorneys for Maricle and seven others, including Clay County school superintendent Douglas C. Adams and Clay County Clerk Freddy Thompson, entered not guilty pleas for their clients.

A detention hearing for Maricle is scheduled for Monday.
