The Suns will also receive a future second-round pick from the Bobcats and forward Jared Dudley while sending Sean Singletary to the Bobcats (the fine print)

It's a nice thought, but no way in heck would the Suns trade one of their franchise players away.

Bell, 32, was averaging 9.6 points this season, his lowest average since he was with Dallas in 2002-03. Bell, in his fourth year as the Suns' starting shooting guard, is having a good 3-point shooting season at 46.8 percent but is only shooting 42.9 percent overall. The bigger problem was that he had been disgruntled with the early changes that new coach Terry Porter brought and how they affected his role and the team since the start of training camp. He was vocal about his discomfort in and out of the public eye.

Bell, considered the "heart and soul" of the team by Mike D'Antoni in past seasons, enjoyed the best seasons of his career with the Suns. He became a full-time starter for the first time in Phoenix and fired up more than 400 3-point attempts in each of his first three seasons. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive first team for 2006-07 and the All-Defensive second team for last season.

Diaw, 26, was also in his fourth season with the Suns but was posting his lowest averages for points (8.3), rebounds (3.8), assists (2.1) and minutes (24.5). He does have career-best shooting percentages from the field (56.7 percent) and 3-point line (35.7 percent).

I hate to get rid of Jared Dudley but Raja Bell and Diaw are good players. Sean Singletary is the sh*t, he has been my favorite player in college basketball for the last 4 years. I am ecstatic to have him on the team but I think our backcourt is perhaps a bit too crowded already. Can't wait to see how the new team plays.

based on some of the phoenix comments on the article the fans love the trade and weren't too high on either player.

Phoenix got the better of the trade. I dont really like the trade at all. JRich is a player and Duds has played well for the Cats. Diaw will help but the Cats gave up alot to get him. Whats his contract like?

Great move Bobcats. You're a team that has trouble scoring points, so you trade your best scorer for a guy who played one good year to earn his contract and has since sucked, and a defensive specialist who is slipping rapidly. And then you trade the only first round pick in the last five years you've taken who was worth his drafted position and trade him and what will surely be a high second rounder (since the team sucks) for a point guard who's going to be third string.

You get guys who can CREATE their own shot.

Felton is probably gone for another big.

JRich is good but not a defender like GW.

So our perimeter scoring and off the ball scoring has increased dramatically.

EXCELLENT at least at this moment.

I agree 100%. I know the Cats couldnt find a good deal so I guess they had to take what they could.

So basically the Cats gave up Brendan Wright, a legit and upcoming PF who plays a position they need, and Dudley, for Diaw, who isnt as good as Wright and makes more money than Wright, and a bench player.

I think that the thing that I dislike the most about this deal is that we gave up Dudley.

If it was just Richardson and the second rounder, I would have been ok with it.

Man, Brown will bury this franchise trying to make this his team. So all you can get for an all-star caliber SG is 2 bench players? This trade is about as bad as the Lakers/Memphis trade last year. Total pwnage!

This trade will only work if the Bobcats use Diaw as the player he is...a non-traditional big man. He has a wide variety of skills that can only be maximized in an fast-paced, open court environment. He is a good low post defender, can knock down shots and create mismatches at the offensive end. He, DJ, Gerald and Raymond have the potential to push the ball and play that style. It remains to be seen if Coach Brown has it in him to loosen the reigns and get after it.

I don't get it at all. This team has made only a few good moves in their entire existence.

Selecting G force in the expansion draft.

Trading for JRich even in light of his contract.

Drafting JDudley.

Signing Larry Brown.

Of the 4 good things, we just shipped two off for a pair of role players.
