The Walking Dead on AMC

I used to FIRMLY believe that the last 5 minutes of the Season 3 Finale of Sons of Anarchy was the best 5 minutes of a television program I'd ever watched. I think the last 5 minutes of this episode may have just beat it. The character development in just this 1 episode is amazing, and the final seen was iconic. Wow.

Okay, let's be real here. I know I wasn't the only one who threw out the "Sophia is probably a walker in the barn" prediction. Still, Shane is f*cking insane and I didn't expect that to happen.

And I was 98% sure Shane and Dale were about to duel to the death, if you will.

Did you? I just did a 10 hour marathon and am now caught up. This show friggin rocks. Even the wife likes it. They have spent so long looking for Sophia I hope they find her dead just so they can move on with the show. I'm evil like that though.

Lol. Damn.

Yeah that was a good episode... Shane certainly has the right idea for the situation I think but he's too volatile. It's definitely getting more interesting.

I liked it.

It was the character development playing out that made this episode really good....not just killing zombies.

I'm pissed to have to wait till Feb.

Glad I didn't know what was going to happen. Awesome ending.

No loose ends to worry about tying up for next episode regarding the little girl. It's over. I woke up this morning visualizing those little legs coming out and stepping over the zombies.

At that point...everyone felt what Hershel felt. They almost had become so callous and brazen that they'd forgotten how they felt when Amy had to do the same and Sophia's mom was now going through and what Hershel was now having to cope with the entire time.

Like I said...awesome ending.

Exactly. Loved it and it made all the setup we had to go through worthwhile.

Agreed. I effin' hate Shane. That barn could have easily been secured to keep the walkers in. If Shane doesn't feel safe, he needs to leave and find his own place. It's not his land, and it's certainly not his family in that barn.

Don't get me wrong, I see his point entirely and he is definitely the most fit to survive in such a world -- but at what cost? What's the point of surviving in a world bereft of all humanity? You're no better than the mindless creatures that are also -- guess what? -- only living to survive.

One of Dale's quotes in the episode sort of summed up my own personal philosophy regarding the zombie apocalypse:

"I may not have what it takes to last long, but at least I can say when the world went to poo I didn't go down with it."

Eh, I don't "hate" Shane... I think he's doing what he thinks he needs to to survive. The incident with Otis was bad... that was just him being a selfish asshole... but I also think that Rick doesn't see the big picture sometimes... yes, he has to protect his family, but sometimes you've got to do things you don't like to do that.

If it was me, those walkers in the barn are a very real danger. I think that was Shane's point... Herschel was just in denial, the walkers are DEAD, they're not people and they're not going to be cured. (Heh, heh, Herschel's Walkers from now on...:D)

Shane mostly has the right idea, but he is very close to crossing the line... (except for the Otis thing where he already crossed it)

If he had killed Herschel to take the farm, then that would have been too far. I'm actually a little surprised that he didn't. He may have had the others not been there.

Perfect ending. My buddy who was watching it with me was getting so irritated with the whole farm plot. I said imagine how the people there had to feel. "Oh poo you're right...wow" was his response. Perfect ending to the season. I hate the word but it was epic.
