So I just watched the entire game again on DVR. Rewinding to watch some plays two or three times...yuck....

The Good

Jonathan Stewart is such a fuging baller, and consummate pro. He does everything exceptionally well, whether it be blocking for Cam on long pass plays, or catching the ball. Not once in the Atlanta game was he brought down by first contact and he always gained more yardage then he should have.

On one play Cam and and DeAngelo faked left and Stewart went right up the middle for like eight yards, was pretty sexy.

The Bad

Bryon Bell got beat at least three times by my count; and was charged with a false start, and a holding call. He is defiantly not as good as Otah, at least not in his first season as an undrafted rookie.

The Downright fuging Ugly

I don't know if Jason Williams was benched on the final Atlanta drive by Rivera or if he was just exhausted, but after failing to hold contain on the edge for about the 5th-6th time in the game and getting completely man handled by Gonzales an old man TE for God's sake; Jason Philips was promptly put in the game.

Williams didn't just look bad out there he looked awful. He failed to hold the edge, hit gaps with little energy and speed, waited for runners to come to him instead of aggressively trying to make plays.

The Rest

Defense

A Man Definitely Not Named Beason

It's a rough comparison but while Connor made some good plays and usually makes the right reads he missed on some key plays I just know Beason would have handled. He is good North to South but when he has to move latterly it can be a little rough. Was in the right place a number of times but just couldn't finish the play.

Charles I'm way fuging better then everyone else at Defense

Keep Pounding Bro.

Charles "Probably the Most Overpaid Safety In Football" Godfrey

I think Godfrey has made two plays in his career where I thought, "Wow this mother fuger is a badass." Neither of them came against Atlanta. The PI hurt. Still optimistic that Godfrey can get better.

Antwon Applewhite

Dude had one really nice tackle, and 3 QB pressures, 2 where he knocked Matty Ice in the dirt and another one where he flushed Matty out of the pocket.

Some Others

Frank Kearse and Ronald Fields got some playing time. Kearse got a false start and both players looked pretty terrible. I keep mistaking Butler for CJ Wilson until I realize he actually looks like an NFL Football player. Jordan Pugh might be our second easiest player to block.

Offense

Cam Newton

Made 5 plays that were just like godamn...this guy is a beast. Unlike vs. Chicago, none of his balls wear sailing high. His Pocket Presence and overall calmness is just unbelievable. He might hold on to the ball just a little to long sometimes, or hesitate a little but sometimes that is when he makes his best plays.

I can't really fault him on any of the three interceptions. The first one might have been a little risky or off the mark but overall they just looked like great defensive plays.

The Huddle's Most Hated

Legedu made two clutch catches. One he had to dive for and the other he caught one handed with a defender right on him. He fought to keep getting open whenever Cam got out of the pocket and made some very good blocks. He was called on one holding call but that call along with the one against Shockey I both thought were fairly tacky. Regardless I think he has played better over the last two weeks and I am looking for him to improve.

You think after suffering through years of Colbert, Carter and especially Jarrett the Huddle would be happy with any kind of solid number 2 but alas...

The announcer did say when he talked to Cam Newton, that Newton thought very highly of Legedu and that he thought the WR is due for a breakout performance.

B. LaFell

1/1. Caught the pass squarely in his mitts and was physical afterwards. I don't think Legedu is physically as gifted as him or Gettis so hopefully one of them can eventually win the number 2 spot.

Special Teams

The Coverage was good, Pilares looked good as a gunner. I hope some game soon Armanti will actually be able to field a punt without an opposing player instantly breathing right down his neck.

This. People always wonder why he throws to him so much. I questioned this at first also but I realized that Cam understands his play making ability and thinks highly of him. So If Cam thinks he is capable of being a #2 receiver who are we to question him.

I don't ever expect him to ever be dominant or amazing, and I hope LaFell or Gettis can eventually beat him out, but for the time being I really think he is the best option at number 2.

Stewart has become a great all around player. I think his pass blocking is especially impressive. He's like new Clinton Portis back there picking up free rushers.

Cam needs a permanent go to receiver outside of Stevie cause he's getting up ther in age.. Maybe Nan can wear those velcro gloves that defendant was wearing to hall in that pick 6 from Cam. :D;)

Nan is definitely the farthest thing there is from a replacement for Smith.

He is an awesome 3rd down back. Not only because he can block but also because he is great with screens. Very versatile.

Good write-up dude!

Yeah, Jason Williams sucks, and this was the 2nd time he's been benched.

Bell is definitely not Otah

CJ could play 3-4 DE or OLB with no problem at all, the guy is a football player.

Everybody talks about, once teams have more tape on Cam he will start to struggle. The trend that I'm starting to see, is that teams are looking to just keep him off the field.

Honestly, I won't hate on Godfrey on the pass interference call. What I want to know is why the hell he was lined up one-on-one with Roddy fuging White to begin with. No safety can cover an elite WR on-on-one and expect good results.
