I can understand Smith's frustration, but he didn't go about this in a classy way.

Fox didn't leave very classy. He threw the organization under the bus several times during press conferences in is final season. And he threw Richardson under the bus. The guy who took a chance on him and gave him his first head coaching job and supported him for a very long time even when others doubted him. It's Fox's own fault Richardson let him go. He was given more than his fair share of chances to succeed. There was absolutely no reason to miss the playoffs in 2009. Nor was there a reason to miss the playoffs in 2004, 2006, and 2007. But he was given excuses and more chances after those years. Enough is enough. And he didn't handle himself well in his final season at all. He deserves anything classless that is directed toward him.

For 5 plus years of bullsh1t and no #2 WR I'd say Smith went easy on him.

Without Fox, Smitty might never have been given much of a chance. He helped Smith to evolve from a punt returner with a penchant for fighting his teammates to a respected, and feared, wide receiver.

No Fox and Smitty doesn't see the field after his third year in the league.

Nothing surprising here. No one who knows anything about Smith would ever expect him to be the bigger man.
