Is there a benefit to filling out tags on the forums? I don't even know what they are.

i dont' know about on this forum but generally they can be used to easily reference at a later date. Like, I save sites I like on delicious and 'tag' them, so if I'm looking for 'photography' or 'design' i can easily find the links that relate to those subjects.

So it doesn't help in a google search, just to find things within the site if you're in the site?

I'm sure you can do a google search too, but haven't fiddled around with it.

I actually saw that dj - didn't know if it was of use to me or not. That's what got me to wondering what it was and what the benefit might be.

If they're meta keyword tags they (theoretically) can help with Search Engine Optimization, but from my understanding, it has minimal effect on Yahoo and even less on Google.

I would think it's more for internal search optimization, but I have no inside info.

As with most features on here, mainly it will be used to fug with people.

I don't think it helps a whole lot, but random / off the wall tags can hurt. The search engines will probably see it as spammy and ignore the page.
