Alshon Jeffery to Panthers?

49 posts in this topic

They are more physical, yes, but it's not like Alshon struggles with the college DBs. Again, go back and look what he did to Kirkpatrick as an example, especially the catch at the 1:50 mark. Alshon showed that a CB draped over him doesn't even affect his ability to catch and run with the ball. And Kirkpatrick is widely known as the most physical CB in the NCAA. I think the best comparison I've seen so far is Brandon Marshall.

Now I'm being a homer because I fail to see what a terrible player Alshon Jeffery is and that any Gamecock player is mentioned because he is a Gamecock. You serious, JOAT?

Perhaps you should try to steer clear of this subforum.

haha. I'd hate to see what he thinks about Marcus Lattimore. Guarantee you he would bring up the speed thing with him too.

People here are bashing Jeffery for being a possession WR while pumping up Blackmon as the next Steve Smith when Blackmon himself is a possession WR. Blackmon doesn't have elite speed or size, on his best day he runs around a 4.45 40 and hes only 6'1. His strengths are route running, body positioning and being able to go get the ball when its in the air.

IMO Jeffreys ceiling is higher then Blackmons but Jeffrey also has more bust potential. If things work out for Blackmon hes a slightly bigger Reggie Wayne, if things don't hes Michael Crabtree. If things work out for Jeffery hes a slightly lesser Larry Fitz, if things don't hes Mike Williams or Dwayne Jarrett.

Blackmon's 40ty range is from 4.45 to 4.64, he usually runs a low 4.5

Jeffery's 40ty range is from 4.46 to 4.65, usually runs a 4.56-4.58

I don't think either one is an elite NFL wr. They can be, but Jeffery needs to work on his core and build his strength up. He went into college having never lifted weights and isn't very strong, in the NFL he will be jammed and hard.

Blackmon is more polished but lacks the ideal size for a guy with a 4.5 speed. Better route runner and has more hip fluidity. He would be an ideal WR in a WCO or in the slot in a more vertical passing offense.

Alshon is clearly far and away the best Receiving prospect in this class, but unfortunatley, Blackmon is better suited to this offense. The thing with Blackmon is that he is boom or bust. He may be good, or he may bust very, very bad. Floyd I would not touch with a ten foot pole. Beyond that, just a bunch of guys in this year's class that we should have no desire for.

LOL, since when? This really does sound like homer speak, especially since its such a point of contention here.

Apparently the word "homer" has a different meaning than it used to. If you have a different opinion than someone else then you are a "homer". Good to know.

Apparently you haven't see his other posts on this subject.

Probably not right this moment but a WR, AJ or Blackmon, could be the best available player when this team picks, and Gettis is coming off a major injury and might not be a number one regardless. As well as the fact that Smith, as good as he is playing, is still getting older and it seems that players in the NFL are good one year and seem to get old and inaffective overnight, so it couldn't hurt to cover our bases, but whatev, to each his own. Obviously defense is a need.

Right on the money. Just because my opinion differs from others here, people resort to petty insults like "homer" because they have no other mental justification that someone could possibly disagree with what they deemed to be fact.

There are many many many scouting websites that agree with me, and what some of the posters here going to have to accept is that not everyone sees it the way they do.
