Mass protests in Europe have actually had an effect on public policy over there. The problem is that any protest that will get the medias attention has the effect of bringing every protest group out into the park, whether or not it's relevant to the issue at hand.

In the 70's and 80's the massive anti-war and anti-nuke rallies swayed a lot of public opinion, even though there was a lot of covert Soviet support for them going on. Now it's just a bunch of left wing radicals wanting air time for their pet cause.

Quit being obtuse.

I've seen a fair amount of these protest. Some people are there to promote their cause but just as many others are there for the party. There's also a small group there just to make trouble.

The trouble makers can make things difficult pretty quick. What will throw it over the top is when the police just want an excuse to mix it up.

These protesters are slightly informed, have copious amounts of time on their hands and smell like moldly laundry.
Having said that, I appreciate the zeal, but if it's uninformed, it's a waste of time.
Similar to the guy who charges the field during a game. Don't give him air time.
If these folks are so passionate about the messes they see, run for office, start a business/foundation etc to eradicate it where you see it.
The time vs energy and the ROI on the protest yields very little.

ah.... So now I see what wrong with this world and why the government thinks they can just run over us and do what they want, when they want and how they want. Apathy will kill us all. Sheep, we have become sheep.

I think its more fluff than substance, just people looking for a good time. I have seen more partying and socializing than protesting.

If that's code for "dance like you've never seen me dance before", then yes.

Sheesh, looking at those photos seems to confirm what I thought, most are in their late teens or 20's.

Youth is wasted on the young.

are you saying it would benefit the young more to be complacent and apathetic and sit around without standing up for what they believe in?

seems like this group are the ones who that phrase doesn't apply to.

could you explain how it applies, and what those kids should be doing instead?
