TE Jeremy Shockey (ribs) isn't making the trip with the Panthers to Detroit and will miss Sunday's game.

This is another reason why I wanted to keep Jeff King, who can block very well and catch. Ben Hartsock ain't gonna cut it.

hartsock is a pretty good blocker too

He's pretty much just a blocker, he isn't a receiving tight end as he only has 282 career receiving yards in his 8 year career.

Well we didn't expect Barnidge to get hurt.

Barnridge was likely to be cut anyway, Hartsock signed a two year deal.

Not sure bout that. He fits this offense perfectly.

They wanted a blocking TE, neither Banridge or Olsen can block that well, plus Hartsock signed a two year deal BEFORE Barny got hurt.

Actually if you look at PFF, King has always been in the red when it comes to everything. He was overrated as a blocker and a pretty bad receiver. However what this does mean is we are going to see more receivers in the game. That means Tutu because watching this season, Tutu is the only one of these second tier receivers to play a snap on offense.

Dude Barny was having a great camp. He would have for sure made the team. Look how we kept Brockel. That would have been Barnidge's spot. Plus, Barnidge is if not the best, then one of the best special teamers on the team. We really miss him on that unit.
