I Can't Take Chico Serious

You should probably tell him this, you know, like face to face...

I've been in the presence of Rivera on several occasions now, and he's intimidating... bigger guy then you would think and has a no BS demeanor about him.

To the OP: You know calling the coach "chico" is a racial slur and is pretty disgusting. It pretty much negates anything you say afterwards.

Trust me, if you met him in person you would take him seriously.

My best friend growing up had his picture taken with him at a banquet when he was a kid and he looked like a giant...

I have no doubt Rivera has made some young players check their pants before leaving the locker room at halftime... Even in TC several people said he was calm overall but when a player did something really stupid he ripped into him and used several choice words while doing so.

Smitty is as fiery as you can get and he snapped on a reporter whom he thought was slighting Rivera. I have no doubt he commands respect from his players due to his physical stature, demeanor, and his experience.

We need a coach that's intimidating like Dick Vermeil. Seriously though, Rivera was a linebacker, for The Golden Calf of Bristol's sake. Is there a coach in the NFL that could kick his ass? (and don't say Del Rio. I mean a real coach.)

Well I think it's too early to tell anything but a couple things come to mind.

1. Rivera seems like a coach of actions. Something along hte lines of if you keep messing up I'll replace you, or sit you (Goodson). Simple as that, it doesn't take take or outward expression to have your team take you seriously.

2. We are in a rebuilding year and Rivera has no bond with these young players. The last thing he wants to do is piss someone off, like Hardy and not have them play for him like some teams (49ers last year). Also once Rivera picks his guys and has more time with the team I believe he will also have more expectations and it will be more of a letdown/disappointing if things aren't going right than it would be right now. Rivera will become more comfortable and more expectations/expression will come, be patient.

explain what personal experience you've had with the players/coaches/locker room or cite your source that have led you to this bold conclusion.

or if you have neither please explain what synapses in your brain failed to fire causing you to write something so abysmally moronic.

It's his first year, i honestly think he is keeping everything closed in untill he gets his feet settled in... Thats what i hope anyway

With his background i expected a hard ass but we'll see.

Agreed, I expected some Mike Singletary anger, but we're only getting Fox.

I mean, it's not like he doesn't have a reason to be ripping heads off.

I was a fan of Singletary's approach until I started feeling like he began making decisions and scenes because the behavior became expected of him... Like the night he pulled Alex Smith and then put him back in after yelling at him and embarrassing him on the sidelines.

Also, the pulling your pants down incident in the locker room... Yeah... I don't think it worked out well in the long run.

Seriously OP, not sure how old you are but write this down.....you will not get maximum effort out of grown men by yelling at them. Just makes them go against you more.
