Armanti Edwards

If that one punt hadn't been called back his average would be about 2.4 points higher. His coverage team has been beyond abysmal all year, but his punt returns have been steadily improving each game. Let's see where he ends up at the end of the year.

Armanti Edwards was a bad pick, and unless he turns into Devin Hester or Steve Smith he probably wasn't worth what we gave up for him (and I'm an app grad and homer).

BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE HAVE TO DISLIKE HIM AS A PLAYER OR THAT WE NEED TO GET RID OF HIM. Just because he doesn't live up to a high second rounder doesn't mean he can't develop into a good returner (if he can get some blocking).

I didn't realize that the requirements, to meet the value of the first pick in the second round, were being equal to the best return man in history, and one of the best receivers in the game over the last 10 years.

so being the second to last PR in the league and the # 6 or whatever WR on the depth chart was worth it?

Well it's more the specialist nature of his position as kick returner than his production that determines whether the pick was worth it.

So unless you're one of the best ever or able to shift your role into an explosive every-down player it's hard to be worth a high pick.

The best punter the world has ever seen could be coming out of college and would still probably not be worth a first round pick, especially to a team with lots of needs.

There are only 28 punt returners in the NFL? Man 4 teams are really stupid.

I'm guessing the others didn't have enough attempts or it's something injury related or they alternate or something

so yes only 28 are actually recorded

Then you are saying he wasn't worth it?

I'll never understand they blind love for Armanti. Is it because he went to App St? Is it because he was a stud in college? Surely not the latter because so was Eric Shelton and we ragged on him pretty quickly. Is it because he's a Panther? Surely not, because the hate for Clausen is epic... yet most people here gave Jarrett way too many chances.

So what is it? Why do some of you blame everything in the world but Armanti?

I don't know why this is even being discussed. He won't be on the roster next season. Move on.

If those numbers stay the same, nope. But if we continue to see improvement like we have been....maybe.

Yep way to go Edwards, taking us from a abysmal #9 in PR last year to a wonderful 27th. What would we do without you.
