No homerism, no BS...

Is he perfect? Absolutely not. Is his the best QB in the league right now? Absolutely not.

But for a franchise that has endured guys like Randy Fasani, David Carr, & Brian St. Pierre line up behind center, a lot of people on here sound like sniveling nozzles concerning Cam.

Grow up and be a true Panthers fan! Newton is the best thing in 16 years to happen to the Panthers. That is not exaggeration. He is a rookie, and still has a way to go, but I honestly believe he will win a Superbowl here.

And the comparisons to Andy Dalton, or The Golden Calf of Bristol, or any other young QB out there is absurd and insulting.

Andy Dalton will be a good QB in the NFL, but his ceiling stops several stories short of Newton's. All 32 GM's in the league would back that statement.

The Golden Calf of Bristol is a pop culture phenomenom. Good for him. It's a nice ride, The Golden Calf of Bristol's a good guy, obviously a good leader and motivator, but anyone who has an IQ over 100 should be able to discern the lasting ability of this run is on par with a roller coaster. Fun and exciting, but it ain't going last.

Jake Delhomme made a Superbowl and 2 NFC Championship Games. I love Jake and will always. 2003 was the best roller coaster of my sports life, and it may always be, even if the Panthers win a SB. It was truly unbelievable. But the success, as we all know, did not and could not last. Jake's will to win simply was not enough to long-term cover his deficiencies at QB.

Jake and The Golden Calf of Bristol have a lot of similarities. The Golden Calf of Bristol has had some short-term success and has already done things beyond what seemed possible given his incredible short comings as a passer. But the truth is he, like Jake, will never be elite. Simple truth- and you can't consistently be good in today's NFL w/o an elite QB.

We learned that with Jake the hard way. You invest a lot of emotion b/c Jake wanted it so bad and so did we. Jake led comebacks when he really shouldn't have. He almost won a SB.

BUT IT ISN'T SUSTAINABLE LONG-TERM!!! If you have watched the Panthers for the last decade, you KNOW this!! So it's crazy people will debate this, especially Panther fans.

John Fox and John Elway both know this too. That is why they want to focus on the present, not the future, b/c there is none.

Cam Newton is sustainable, and he has already shown stretches of being elite during his transformative season.

So get behind your franchise QB!! If you honestly don't believe Cam Newton is the best option the Panthers could possibly have, you are either ignorant or racist.

Come on- I bleed Black and Blue... There are a lot of Panther fans on here who feel this way too. I pity those who don't.

Is not relevant to this discussion in any way. And I could have led that Steelers team to the AFCC game his rookie season, that defense was loaded.

Jake Delhomme was not as bad as you seem to think.

Somehow, the 6 turnover collapse in the Arizona playoff game completely destroyed his career. But he has a long stretch as an above average to good quarterback in the NFL.

JD was my favorite Panther during our "good" years. The crap that he got from this fanbase for the last few wasn't unwarranted, but I felt was a bit harsh. However, I realize that what we have in Cam will most likely turn out to be 5x better than what we had in Jake. Cam is not one of those guys who has all the talent in the world but doesn't care about winning - you could argue that many in this league have that attitude. Cam has demonstrated that he has an unmatchable drive to get the W, no matter if he throws for 400 or 100 yards. This combined with his talent - something Jake didn't have as much of - will propel our franchise to the Lombardi sometime within the next 10 years.

How is it not relevant to the discussion? I'm saying Roethlisberger is the greatest rookie QB of all time.

So let me get this right. The guy who:

-got us to a Superbowl his first year with the Panthers
-had 3 playoffs appearances with this team
-2 NFC Championships, winning 1
-has a winning playoff record
-has proven to be one of the most consistent QB's when it comes to comeback wins
-made Super Bowl history as a passer
-has just been signed by our upcoming opponents precisely because he's good in the playoffs...

and

-the best coach in franchise history
-who only had one losing season, his last
-made NFL history with the most clutch team in history and OT wins
-is doing it yet again this year with another QB similar to Jake in his first year
-is known for having disciplined and efficient teams
-is as consistent as you get as a coach with a sound philosophy recognized league wide

...didn't really show sustained success....yet another pair of inconsistent QB and coach combo like we have previously had, have shown you enough to believe they're going to be better in the long run and Cam is going to be an elite QB? And I have an IQ of under 100, I'm ignorant or racist, because you clearly have no clue what makes a good, winning, QB or a coach?

How about you go join the rest of the dumb asses, like Cowboys fans, who were saying the same type of poo about Jake when comparing him to Romo in Romo's first years and after all this time he still hasn't done poo for them. An "elite", over hyped pretty boy who can't make the playoffs consistently or do anything worth remembering in the playoffs, no matter how much talent you put around him and how many coaches you go through because they have no fuging balls, guts, or nerve, late in the game when the pressure's on and have no clue what it means to be a consistent or efficient team or quarterback. They LOSE IT under pressure!

You can't fuging win without that as a QB no matter how much skill you got, how big or fast you are or what color your skin is or who is on your team. If you lose your head under pressure, can't manage a game, and make big mistakes when you are needed most to play at the top of your game and be smart, you are a worthless quarterback.

So let me tell you what's going to happen and all the other homers because now this is just getting crazy. If Cam Newton can't figure out how to win late in the game, keep his head cool in the 4th quarter and under pressure, properly manage a football game, become consistent like a machine, he's going to be another worthless QB, another top draft pick bust and a waste of our time. He will never be half the QB Jake was without those things. He won't be worth poo no matter how much he runs, no matter how many passes he throws, no matter how many records he breaks and he will never win a Super Bowl unless he gets ungodly lucky and somehow we figure out a way to blow out everybody that year. He won't even make it there.

And as far as race and ignorance goes, I know who's really racist alright and have been a bunch of bigots all year long. Most of them have in fact been black, like Warren Moon who wanted a black QB #1 draft so fuging bad they are willing to overlook anything and everything, any valid criticism, and try to bully everyone around with the race card, at any cost. He was wrong about a lot of the poo he said. So was Bo. Cam's nowhere near as fast as Vick. Not a better passer than most. Guys they called racist like Skip Bayless was right about a lot of poo. Cam is in fact inconsistent. He's already admitted he couldn't read defenses. We really aren't running an NFL style offense to see how he'd do, but the times he's taken more snaps under center, he hasn't looked too good. Turns out Skip wasn't a hater, just a better scout than Moon who is a racist bigot and buys into hype.

So to all of you using the race excuse, calm the fug down! When a black QB merits it, is really fuging good, he will do it and no one's going to stop him. We don't live in the 40's or 50's anymore and the NFL is full of black athletes that everyone loves, black or white. Black QB's can win no matter what people say about them if they are any damn good.

Relax, it's going to happen sooner or later, ok? Take McNabb. He got close to a Super Bowl and not because he was black or some hot poo or because he played in Philly. That's cause he was a good leader, good game manager, and understood the game. His guys liked him, believed in him and for the most part he wasn't stupid. Just not quite good enough and the one year he got close we broke his ribs. Oh well, tough poo. Good for us because that was the year we made the Super Bowl. I guess the Panthers stayed in the way of black history. fug it. Eagles suck!

Ironically, McNabb's biggest problem in his career wasn't the white or the south. His biggest problem was his own mistakes and another drama-filled pretty boy, T.O., also black, not the white fat man or our white QB. It was also Ricky Manning Jr, another black dude who picked him off 4 times in the playoffs. Which is closer to reality anyway. Because nowadays, it's usually some other black dude that stands in the black man's way and drags him down, NOT the white man. Warren Moon set Cam up to fail and be even more criticized. Good stuff Warren! Meanwhile Vick, a thug who relies on athleticism, which typically make for pretty pooty leaders, doesn't do any better in Philly, in the north, than he does in Atlanta. Athletic QB's who don't learn football strategy, game managing, don't make good QB's. Once the NFC East got a good dose of Vick they ended up shutting him down this year because he's not quite as athletic as he was coming into the league. Nothing to do with race.

We'll just have to see if the first Super Bowl winning black QB is Cam. But I don't really give a fug about that, I care more about the Panthers getting their first Super Bowl. If we also happen to be the team that creates black history for NFL QB's, then it's a double bonus for some fans. Personally I could care less, because I'm not black and I care more about winning first so I'm not retarded enough to pull for a loser at the expense of winning and for some other reason other than winning. That's politics, not sports, and we already have a black president so the way I see it this is small potatoes compared to that. And not even Obama would have made it without white people voting for him in which means important leader positions and good leaders is more about bringing people together, not splitting them apart. And my criticism isn't going to get in the way of Cam's chase for black history if he's in fact even chasing that, and I would support Cam just as much in a Super Bowl as Jake. If, on the other hand, Cam turns out not to be worth poo, then get him the fug off the field and get someone else who can get us there and let's get back to worrying about winning instead of stupid race bullpoo. If Cam's worth a poo he will be worth a poo and if he's not, and I call him out, it doesn't mean I'm racist because I judge players by meaningful achievements and character, not by color. It just means he isn't worth poo.
